The Yard House is hard to beat. This one is located in the Fashion Island Mall at Newport. Needed a break from shopping and the girls...good excuse for a brew and some NFL Network. Bartender was spot on with his recommendations, always nice to have a fellow IPA fan serving. Starting with a Lagunita IPA and finished with a nice KneeDeep Double IPA, nice balance with a bit of malt finish. Changes up a bit at the end of a pint.

Great happy hour and lunch specials, and many tasty menu options. Service is hit or miss. I've had some fantastic servers, some who are just ok, and a couple who were terrible. Like anywhere, I guess. The wide array of food choices and convenient location are what keep me going back.

Asked if I could dine outside. Felt like that inconvenienced the staff. Was seated outside and told my server would be right there. Waited for 10 minutes no one came out. So I left. Felt like ignoring me was intentional bcos I was the only person in that section and the server didn't want to come outside for one person. So disappointed as I'd just landed from Sydney Australia and usually love YH. Lucky there are many other great places to dine at Fashion Island, like PF Changs. :)

Spaghetti and meatballs Steamed Broccoli BBQ ribs Chicken avocado sandwich Caesar salad Strawberry mojito Spaghetti was dry. Meatballs... maybe over cooked? They were dry as well. I had the BBQ ribs and they were very good. Something I would order again. Hubby had the sandwich and salad - both were good. Nothing unique. Mojito... well, you can't go wrong with a mojito. Overall, it's another chain restaurant with average food. Nice service. Tried it. Lots of happy hour gatherings on a Thursday night.

Probably one of my favorite places in rotation. I love the Moscow Mules, Boneless Buffalo Wings, and most items on the menu!

Seated. WAITED 20 MINUTES AND NOBODY EVEN CAME TO TAKE OUR DRINK ORDER! Never have I been so disrespected. After 15 minutes I went to the hostess to politely let them know that we haven't received any service. You'd think they would rush someone over but NO. Instead we waited five more minutes and still nobody came out to take our drink order or bring us water. 100% disrespected and ignored. I will not be coming back.

My husband and I are a regular. Food is amazing and beers are fantastic. Very friendly bartenders and waiting staff. I have been to all OC locations but love Fashion Island better because it is less busy. But if you'd like busy and more beer selection then I'd recommend Spectrum location. Fashion Island location has outdoor covered patios and you can take your dog as long as it i by your table outside of the fence. Must try : queso dip, Turkey Burger, Steak sandwiches are great, beef dip, spicy tuna roll, Tuna steak sandwich and ahi sliders, thai calamari ...

I like the Yard House, despite the fact it markets itself as a beer drinker's bar and instead caters to a more non-beer crowd. They have a good selection of beers and pretty good food. This location left something to be seriously desired though. Service was super slow and inattentive, at the bar itself. But here's what grinds my gears, they are way under pouring their 'pints'. I have no idea how many ounces their glasses should hold, but I got two beers and both were poured nearly an inch below the top of the glass. Total rip off.

This Yard House is usually the primary restaurant for my family and I. While it has less selection on the menu than Cheesecake Factory, it makes it easier to choose an entree. The food is delicious, the drinks are great, and the staff are polite and friendly. I have yet to try any of the desserts bc I become full after devouring my delicious entree.

Although my first time experience was awful, Yard House sent us a gift card and I went back to Fashion Island with my girlfriend. Everything was much better this time, and although I'm not too happy about the first experience the second experience was good enough to get boosted up by 2 stars. Food is always pretty good, which I expect from Yard House but I've had better experiences at the yard house at Triangle Square in Costa Mesa.

good happy hour. The food isn't great, but it definitely isn't bad. Their queso dip was good, but their poke was just ok. The service was really good too. We really liked the pomegranate margarita and the peach beer cocktail. 4 drinks and two appetizers came out to $53 during happy hour.

Yes it's a chain, yes it's always crowded, and most of their menu has little to no nutritional value. But by golly, it's very good for a chain that seems to pop up in every trendy shopping center. Want here early because my friend had to put her baby daughter to bed early. We walked right in. It's rare I'm not handed an electronic pager of some sort to hold onto until it buzzes. It was happy hour, so we ordered a few apps and some drinks. Their beer selection is impressive, and I enjoyed their IPA. We feasted on buffalo wings, lobster/crab and artichoke dip, and the onion ring tower. All were exactly what we wanted - greasy, cheesy and addictive. For dessert we had the trio and the smores brownie, because three desserts weren't enough and I HAD to have it. The trio was ok, but the brownie was amazing! Gooey chocolate with toasted marshmallows, how can you go wrong?! I really tried not to eat it all, and managed to save a morsel. I would definitely come back to devour that brownie like a boss.

One of the better Yard Houses that I've been to, for sure - service has always been friendly and prompt, and they definitely try to entertain you (though sometimes they really aren't that funny....but it's the thought that counts!). For starters, always get the crab cakes -these are yummy and give you a good amount of crab to share with others. The sauce is a bit on the sweet side since it's mango-based. I like the Ahi Crunchy salad - definitely a huge portion (much like everything else on the menu actually). The salad part is okay, but the ahi tuna is seared just right. Jambalaya is also pretty good and great to share if you think it's too heavy to eat it alone. I like to split the food here since they do have a great variety. Also my favorite part here will always be the over-abundance of TV screens. Can't wait to come here to watch the NBA playoffs~~! :)

I came here for happy hour, and I got a blended pomegranate margarita and chicken garlic noodles. The chicken garlic noodles were amazing. The portion was also a good size and all for $5. It was definitely worth it. (Side note: I believe vegetarians can substitute the chicken for vegetarian chicken) The pomegranate margarita looked beautiful when it came. I was so ready to sip away, but I was pretty disappointed. I couldn't taste any flavor except for the tequila. Each sip tasted like half a shot of tequila, and I just wasn't able to enjoy my drink. Even after mixing it and even trying the drink from the top, it made no difference to the taste.

Friendly staff, lots of beers and they have the best chicken tortilla soup in the world. The food here all in all is much better than one would expect for being a "beer" place. If you are in the area and looking for a good meal and a drink this is your place.

The wait to get a table was super long. It looked very crowded. The waitress was friendly. She made sure we were enjoying our meals. My dinner was delicious. The ambiance was crowded with a young crowd.

This is one of our favorite spots when visiting Newport Beach! The staff is always super friendly and though we waited for about 15 min for a table, it was worth the wait! We especially like their chopped salad, pepper crust filet mignon and their pizzas too We're not beer drinkers but this place has an amazing amount of unique beers and the music is always really good here...just a little loud sometimes. Overall, it's a must on my list!!!

They have some damn good nachos. They are freaking HUGE. Truly meant to be split by a minimum of 3 people, ideally four if you want to maintain an appetite for your entree. (4 stars because it could be 5 with actual nacho cheese sauce.) French dip could have been better. The bread was sweet and I disliked that. (2.5 stars because I am picky about French dips.

We came tonight because I was craving the calamari. I've had it many times in the past (it's been a while), and it was always delicious. Like, craveable, get-my-ass-back-in-your-restaurant delicious. Today, not so much. I ordered that and some soup as my entree. However, when I tasted the calamari, it was cold and rubbery. Not even a little bit warm. It had clearly been sitting out for some time. (I definitely didn't wait to try it, either). From then, it took at least 10-15 minutes to get our waitress's attention. She was clearly busy and being run in a million different directions, so I can't blame her for that. But by the time I was able to ask for a new dish, my husband had almost finished his food. The manager came by and kindly apologized. We appreciated that. The calamari came quickly the second time.... it was now hot, but extremely rubbery. I know calamari is a bit rubbery - as I said, I'd had it here many times before. But this was very bad. To demonstrate to my husband, I tried breaking a ring with my fingers, and it couldn't be done. I feel positive that it was microwaved, or else it sat out for a long time and they quickly re-fired it. Anyhow, I let the waitress know that it was not good, and she apologized and nicely asked if she could offer something else, etc. The manager came by and did the same thing. (I declined). They were both very nice, and their attempt to make it right is the reason this review has two stars instead of one. TL;DR - if I have to send something back, please make sure it's excellent the second time. Also, making me spend 15 minutes staring at the waitress trying to get her attention is a great way to ruin my meal.

Happy hour: Blue crab cakes. Nachos. 4 different Sliders and fries. Pizzas are half off. Firecracker boneless chicken wings. Lobster spinach artichoke dip. Guacamole dip. Ahi tuna tower. -- ahh, the prices are right when it is happy hour! My go to favorites are their truffle fries, lobster spinach artichoke dip, stacked chicken enchiladas, lobster noodles, truffle Mac and cheese squared, simple grilled cheese and tomatoe bisque soup, and spicy jambalaya. For light lunches, a soup or salad with a hot/cold sandwich is the perfect choice to avoid crashing hard after eating. Parking can be hard to find, but luckily there's a structure that will offer you a spot even during the busiest time of the holiday season. The staff are friendly and always makes sure my coworkers and I out on time and back into our office to resume our duties.

Well I've gone to yard house in the past and I've always hated the food . No taste at all. Well recently i went for my friends girlfriends birthday and they said the menu changed. So I thought it would be a lot better . Turned out I was wrong .. Well we ordered the coconut shrimp for app it was good but you only get three shrimp for 16 bucks !!! Then I ordered the enchilada stacked. That was the most disgusting food I've ever had . No taste at all. Chicken was tough felt over cooked and old . My gf ordered a BBQ burger which was decent but could of been better. Don't spend your money here . Gross food . You have been warned .

Our server (Victoria) has been very pleasant, we stated we were hungry and ready to order and she paid good attention. Our drinks were kept full, food was hot and tasty. She was knowledgable about the menu and made yummy recommendations. This particular location is supposed to be dog friendly however it's not exactly what you'd think. You sit on the patio and your dog is leased or tied up on the other side of the row of plants. This doesn't make sense since you can access the patio without entering the restaurant. Overall I'm not sure I'll be back even though the sweet potato fries are the BEST I've ever had.

I love the Yardhouse! It's one of my favorite places to get together with my friends and have a meal and good beer. This time I got the surf and turf burger and it was fantastic. I got it wrapped in lettuce and it was great. My only disappointment was the waitress. She was slow and didn't have a good way of talking to our table.

My husband and I were staying at the Marriott to celebrate our 8 year wedding anniversary and decided to walk over to the Yard House for some dinner and drinks... We had the BEST meal with an awesome server (Troy) and decided to move it over to the bar so Troy wouldn't have to wait for us in case he was cut! BIG MISTAKE. We waited approx. 6-7 minutes for someone to at least acknowledge us- there were bartenders, servers, managers, barbacks and PLENTY of people around- just none that would even look our way! One bartender, who obviously didn't feel like glancing our way, finally saw that he had no other choice and made his way over. He had menus in his hand and sat them down. I said "we've already eaten, we're just going to grab a couple drinks" when he pointed down at the menus and said "drinks. See it? Drinks. Driiiiiinks." I waited about 4-5 seconds and looked at my husband and said "let's go. I don't want to stay." The bartender looked shocked and said "are you serious?? It was a JOKE. I was kidding!!!" Yah. Piece of advice: next time? Jokes happen AFTER we haven't waited 10 minutes for you to get here, AFTER an apology has been given for taking so long, AFTER we have a drink in hand, and AFTER a relationship has been established! Too soon buddy. As a 100% sober person waiting for my first drink- that was a fail. As we made our way towards the door, my husband noticed a manager. He talked to her and told her what happened. She was EXTREMELY apologetic, very helpful and completely turned the situation around. She got us the 2 drinks we wanted and sat us on the patio-- around the corner came Troy (our server from inside) with a surprise 3 dessert sampler to make up for the incident at the bar... Troy and the manager (I wish I could remember her name!) took the experience that was about to end horribly and made it such a great night!!! We would be back because of these 2 employees... And we probably wouldn't sit at the bar.

Currently at yardhouse to watch the kings game.. After requesting to be moved and told that we have the best seat 3 different times because they didnt feel like accommodating a simple request i left. The estabilishment is only maybe 1/5th full.. Empty tables and booths everywhere. Needless to say i wont return with friends to eat, drink and watch a game. I dont like to nitpick, and i would understand if theyre busy but when its not busy and no one watching any games at all... #fail

Got the food I expected, but startlingly mediocre service. Came in solo for a late lunch well after any sort of rush - the place was nearly empty. Friendly server but I wasn't even addressed for 10 minutes after being seated, then waited a strangely long time for the food to come out. It took three passes to flag down the waiter to get a straw for my drink and a spoon for my soup. The beef dip (with no dip?) and soup (lukewarm by the time I had a spoon) weren't half bad for all that. I'll go back and give it another stop but I'm really wary of heading there when I'm on a time crunch from the office.

  • Mitch W.

Service is always bad. The waiters are understaffed. The food is terrible. Everything taste the same. Oil from the pans make everything taste bland and greasy. The food taste like it's been frozen. I sparsely go here and have not made a review because I thought possibly I've was there on an "off" day but now I know it's just status quo.

Service. Wow. This is my first time witnessing a hostess who looks like she's about to die and didn't bother trying to hide it. She had an incredibly pissy face on escorting groups to their table including ours. Same with our server. Didn't get her name and not sure if she had brown or dirty blonde hair but her face was long and thin. Oh, and that pissy face of hers, too. Must not be a good night for either of them. What upsetted me the most was that I went out to the patio for a quick smoke and realized I was locked out. My server happened to be RIGHT in front of that door and I mouthed to her to open that door. What did she do? She signaled me to wait and walked ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT AND THEN INTO THE KITCHEN. WHAT. THE. EFF. SHE LEFT ME LOCKED OUTSIDE. So I called my friend over to open the door. She NEVER ONCE CAME OVER TO THE TABLE TO APOLOGIZE FOR LEAVING ME OUTSIDE HANGING. NOTHING. All she did was come to take our damn bill and asked if we wanted or change back. And I was the lucky one to pay the bill that night. Yup. I tipped her for the service. $0.

I like coming here after work for a nice cold beer. They have about 100 different beers to choose from and some of them are really good! For lunch I always get the roasted turkey melt and a bowl of tomato bisque soup which is very tasty. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of the service. Some of the waiters or waitresses are very slow. The last couple times it would take forever to get my water refilled or would take a long time to get my check. Not happy when I come on my lunch hour and am held up by employees on their phones, instead of them handing me my bill so I can get back on time. The Yard House at Triangle Square has better customer service.

    (3)
  • Kristina S.

I love The Yardhouse but this location is horrible. No wonder why Tri Square is busy and it's dead here. Service was bad, multiple employees had attitudes, we left an ID so we could step on the patio and they cleared our table and asked us if we could stay out here. We obliged despite it getting chilly. But then to tell us to bring our stuff to the bar when we're done? We're paying and tipping, why should we have to clean up after ourselves at a restaurant??? Ridiculous! Pathetic! Go to Tri square, way better customer service, better attitudes, better experience.

Came here to grab some drinks and food, sat at the bar and our bartender was very nice and took care of us. I tried the Hawaiian Mule (4/5) which was pretty good and the Smoked Pineapple (1/5) which my friend chose for me and it was just too smoky for my taste. Both were around $9.50. Also tried the chicken garlic noodles (3.5/5) they were good but on the salty side and the chicken pieces were tiny. They're happy hour is great though get the nachos to share with everyone it's huge! (4/5) Overall a nice place to hangout.

I usually really like Yard House- good food and great beers on tap (like. A LOT of beers on tap...), but the service at the Fashion Island one was a bit worse. At one point, our waitress cuts us off in the middle of our orders and says she'll be right back...she went to go take someone else's order. I was put off by this and felt slighted. Then, we get a different server so she can go on break, but this one then messes up the bill and requests that we figure it out amongst ourselves instead. I sent her back to fix the problem and now will probably avoid this location.

    (3)
  • Rose H.

The food was spectacular!!!...but our waitress was slightly rude as she made a smirk when I tried to ask if we could order. When she gave us our drinks, she kind of threw the straw at us. The only time she was nice was when she gave us our bill as we were about to tip her. Happy hour sti ll remains the best! The Hawaiian pizza was a little dry with a few toppings so the other pizzas are better.

I recently ate lunch here to watch the United States play in the World Cup. Unfortunately, they lost to Belgium which was disappointing. A forewarning though. Their loss did not in any way affect my review. I ordered the pepper crusted gorgonzola burger which was also provided with sautéed crimini mushrooms, caramelized onions and spinach and it comes with fries. I paid a dollar extra and had truffle oil added to them since they separately sell truffle fries. The burger was disappointing. It was small in size and the burger patty did not have much meat flavor nor was it very juicy. Also, the bun was dry. The burger was underwhelming. I did however enjoy the truffle flavor of the fries though. The fries themselves were nothing special and tasted that they were taken out of the freezer and not from fresh potatoes.

Here are some of the circumstances under which I come to Yard House: --late at night for their cheaper late night menus and late happy hours --when I'm in the mood to try new types of beer --or I just want my favorite hard-to-find beers on draft --with a larger group of people, which they can easily accommodate At night, after 9pm, you'll never have to wait for a table but you'll still have the whole menu available. Plus, if you come on the days with their late happy hours, you can get the usual huge portioned appetizers for half price, such as the satisfying chicken nachos. One time I got a really, really good truffle burger from a late night menu, but I'm not entirely sure if they still have it; I didn't see it last time I went. Yard House, with its big and eclectic menu, could almost be compared to The Cheesecake Factory, but just more beer-centric. It's not the hottest or most innovative restaurant out there, but sometimes you and your friends are just in the mood for drinks and comfort food. When you find yourself in that situation, maybe give Yard House a try next time.

I usually come during their happy hour specials. Can't beat cheap good eats and their large selection of beer. Service is pretty solid as well. An added bonus is extended happy hour during Monday night football. I'm a fan of their wings, poke stack, nachos, sliders and pizzas. Best bang for the buck and you get to watch the game and cheer your team, or in my casey fantasy football team.

Even though it's a chain, the Yard House is a great place! The beer is always fresh (how do they do that?), and the food is consistantly good. The waitstaff are always friendly and helpful, and the service is quick. I have been to this one several times and have had nothing but good times and good food.

Great service. Love the happy hour. They have a great Poke and Garlic Noodle dish on the happy hour menu that is delicious. Our food came out right away. The Yard House has a huge menu and a big beer selection! Home brewed!! As far as food it's good not amazing but huge portions perfect for sharing. I had the Country fried chicken breast on a bed of spinach mash potatoes . It was good but lacked seasoning brought half home! Rest of family had the chicken bowl loaded with veggies on a bed of Jasmine rice they enjoyed very much! Good service can't comment on beer but husband ordered a sampler and thought they were lousy. Be prepared for very loud music playing and in general it's a very load restaurant . Prices reasonable $$

I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday on Friday night. The wait was not long 'til we were seated. I've been to Yard House at LA Live, Irvine, and Long Beach a few times before and always enjoy the food and atmosphere. At this location though, was entirely different experience. We shared the onion ring tower to start though it came out with our entree. The onion rings were good, same as other locations. Nicely battered with a ranch & spicy aoli for dipping. We split the rib eye with shrimp, potatoes, and green beans. This was terrible. Our steak was fully cooked even though we specify for it medium rare. It was difficult to eat and I ended up leaving a large chunk back. Beans were bland and potatoes were a mess. No texture or taste of any kind. I didn't want to send my steak back as we were limited on time, but not once were we checked on. Our sever did not come back and we had to flag a few expos/bus boys during our dinner to get additional silverware, waters, and check. Terrible food and awful service.

This place has great food! I mean among all these chain Sports-Bar/Restaurants, Yard House arguably has the best food! I went there a couple of nights ago to watch the NCAA Championship Game. Our Server was Adam. Despite being extremely busy (after all it was the March Madness Finale and they were mobbed), he was very nice, polite, and patient. The food was amazing (Guac/Chips, and Jambalaya); I'm already craving it! Would definitely go back!

Good food and good service. Some of the items can be a bit pricey for what you're eating, so go during happy hour (starts at 3 p.m. on weekdays) for a much better deal! I spent around $6 for a huge personal pizza. I couldn't even finish half of it! Their spinach dip is also awesome and is served with thing crispy flatbread pieces instead of chips. We also asked for a side of bread to go with the dip as well.

I feel like a dummy. Literally have been visiting FI for over a decade and this was the first time that I realized there was a Yard House in the vicinity. I had the worst and final meal at a yard house chain last night. I had a party of 2 and we were seated in a nice booth, however there were tons of gnats flying around that drew annoyance to Jason and I. Some guy took our drinks, another guy brought our drinks, another guy took our order, and finally some lady confirmed our order. What the hell is that all about? They did the same thing with bringing out our food. It's a multiple man show. Now on to the food. We ordered fries to snack on. Let me tell you, McDonald fries taste better. The appetizer was miniscule. I ordered mac n cheese. I needed some parmesan cheese and the girl just dropped it off at the table and bolted. No "anything else?" He ordered fish n chips. His fish were dark on the inside and horribly watered down meaning bad thawing. There was no fish, only batter for most pieces. It was served with the same fries we ordered, not fish chip fries. Pretty bad. Guy comes around and we give them our feedback. No "omg I am so sorry, let me take that out and get you something of your liking", or "geez guys I apologize for that, please allow me to take that off your bill." My mac and cheese was ok. Lacked a true taste and was familiar along the lines with macaroni grill or olive garden. Now, I know why...they are owned by one of them. Horrible food, weird staffing situation and certainly no above and beyond in guest service. GM DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH A DIFFUSE EMAIL, CUT AND PASTE THIS TO CORPORATE. Thanks!

I can't believe it took my husband and I so long to eat here after all it is a chain. We have come here again and again and every time our meals are great. They know how to perfectly cook a burger and my husband says it is one of the best he has ever had, and he's had a lot! I love the seared ahi caesar salad with no croutons and balsamic vinegrette. The ahi is delicious.

Pretty typical chain pub chain (think better than BJs, not quite Eureka). Fast, friendly service, lots of TVs with sports on, decent beer, and good burgers. The beer isn't made locally so that is kind of a bummer but I do like their "house" brews (made in Utah?)

Very nice ambience where is nice and chillax. The services provided was excellent. Our server was very attentive and brings whatever we asked for relatively fast. Their chicken noodle soup was awesome! So is their appetizers as we ordered buffalo wings and burgers. I simply fall in love with this place because of such variety on the menu! Good food, good quality, good service!

I visited the Yard House at the Irvine Spectrum on Saturday. Very disappointed. I was starving and it was late. Wanted something light, so I opted for the Spicy Tuna "roll" appetizer. It was NOT a traditional sushi roll. It was a bunch of ingredients piled on the plate. Taste was horrible. I tried to make it work with more wasabi and soy. Not happening. I even had my boyfriend try it and he spit it out immediately. The atmosphere was good and his food was good (although he asked for no pickles on his sandwich and got them anyway), but paying 12.95 for an appetizer, that was inedible made me ill. Service was good and the waiter comped my food, but in my opinion, I would take that dish off of the menu. I work in the restaurant industry and I know my food.

Love the Beef Dip sandwich and the Dogfish Brown Ale!!!...beats Houston's by a long shot and definitely a lot cheaper!! Houston's prices are a joke. Will be back to the YH for Happy Hour!!

Food is good. Service is good. VERY LOUD environment - difficult to hold a normal volume conversation across the table with friends or family. Next time we'll try the outdoor seating area.

Can't go wrong with YardHouse (or YardHouse like places like JT Schmid's). Wide selection of food & alcohol, YardHouses' usually allow people to dine outside also so the noise isn't an issue.

Never I dull moment at Yardhouse ! Service and quality of food is a 10! Happy hour 3-6 pm Monday thru Friday. Late night 10pm- close Sunday - Wednesday. They have ALL kinds of different beer on tap for every picky beer drinkers.

I came in 15 minutes before happy hour and they were happy to let me know if I waited I would get a better bang for my buck, which I thought was very nice! Patrice was my sever, and she was super nice and helpful. The food was top notch. I had a salad, and a chip of clam chowder. It was perfect amount of time, perfect temperature, and so good! I'll be back!

Yard House is decent - good food. They could expand their gluten-free menu a LOT simply by adding gluten-free buns. Shoot, there are fast food places that have gluten-free burger buns...why Yard House doesn't is beyond me! No 5 star because the hostess was a bit of an airhead. We had our dog with us and one of the patios was empty except for one table. She said we could sit out there but had to wait until she called us on their little buzzer system. 20+ minutes later and my husband has to go back in for the THIRD time to ask why we can't just go sit on the patio. He ends up with someone else who seats us right away. Word of advice though - don't go on a Sunday during football season if you want your service to be relatively quick. Wasn't the server's fault - they clearly need to beef up their staffing on sundays during this time of year. Oh, and hire a hostess that can think on her feet.

So I waited months before I updated this for several reasons; 1. I wanted to afford the place the opportunity to make it right, 2. I was obviously upset and did not want to leave an emotional review. As I previously stated the beer was very good and cold, the waitress very attentive. THE PROBLEM; as the waitress was standing there I took a bite of my chicken sandwich and proceeded to pull a very long hair out of my mouth on front of her. I spit the rest out sent the meal back and lost my appetite. The Manager came over and apologized said he would be back over in a minute but never came back. I received my full bill minus the chicken sandwich. The next day I went to the restaurant and expressed my concern. A month later I received a 25.00 gift card. First and foremost, it's not about the money. I typically spend 200.00 for a meal and a 20% tip, however, I am not sure 25.00 compensates ruining my night. I sincere apology by phone (which I left) would have went a lot farther with me.

Yard House Overall 4.5 Stars Gold medal- Garlic Fries Silver medal - Jambalaya Bronze medal - Half Yard Beer This is the location in the Fashion Island. This location is not as rowdy as the one in The Triangle, but heck you are next to all the great shopping here. Yard House has the BEST garlic fries. If you like garlic, this is the best $3.95 you will spend anywhere. The Jambalaya is surprisingly good. It had a really good flavor. I would definately be back for more! During Happy Hour the half yard beers are only $8-$9.50. Depending on the beer ordered. HUGE beer for $8!! Not too shabby. HAPPY GARLICING!!!!

My bf threw me a surprise bday dinner here for my 25th birthday with a group of my friends. I have to say... I've been to a few Yardhouse locations and this by far is the worst service I've ever experienced.. I'd give it one star if it wasn't for their jambalaya that was good enough to deserve that 2nd star. I am a huge on service.. And I'm sorry.. That nights service was horrible! It was a Friday night, we had reservations for 10.. We were seated 30 mins after our original reservation time.. When we were seated, our server didn't even come over to help us until maybe another 10 mins.. Normally, someone would walk by and say hi and say I'll be with you shortly.. Well not this time. We had to wave our server down to take our order... And he looked at us and told us to wait and he will be with us in a minute.. He continued on to help his other 3 small booths behind us and didn't come back till later. He finally took all our orders and we were never once checked on again.. The next time we saw him was when we asked for the check. We told him we were running tight on time and needed the checks.. He said Np.. And didn't come back with our checks for another 10-15 mins! What made me angry was that I saw him go from one register, to another and talking with his coworkers.. Sorry, I pay close attention to detail.. It bothered me to see that he did not care about his customers needs. He in no way had any sense of urgency when it came to our table. Since when do we go to restaurants and have to wave down a server for help everytime? I felt like he was more available to his other tables than ours right from the beginning! Overall, horrible experience for a birthday dinner.... Btw..also ordered a bowl of their clam chowder.. The clam chowder was watery and came out cold.. Would not recommend that dish..

The food here is very good, but that's not why I'm writing this review. The service is ALWAYS horrible. The waitress took 15 minutes just to bring me a glass of water. She was super rude, and cut me off mid-sentence when I ordered. When I took out the silverware from the napkin, the fork was dirty with grime. Overall, good food but service is crap.

I haven't been to the Yard House in a long time, but was excited to relive my college memories. My friends took me here while I was visiting them in Newport and I couldn't pass it up especially that it was located at Fashion Island. This is a huge restaurant! There's convenient parking right next door. We sat down and looked through the very long menu. They had a little bit of everything. While asking for a glass of Rose I was informed that they are bringing a new wine list to this place, but unfortunately it was starting the next day. Sounds promising only not for me at the time! I decided on a Pinot Grigio instead. We ended up ordering a Margherita pizza with mushrooms, coconut shrimp, and a beer sampler! Service was slow. Our server was very friendly, but it didn't help with the wait time. Did I mention it was pretty empty? We waited for the list of the beer for the beer sampler that came half way through the meal. Nobody knew which list it was. Strange for such a popular item! The food took even longer. Finally instead of doing one thing at a time the food came. Just like we thought the pizza was cold. Cheese wasn't even melted and the mushrooms not cooked enough. Our server described our pizza as a thin crust, but in my opinion that it wasn't. The coconut shrimp on the other hand was tasty! It came with two different sauces and a light papaya salad. Too bad there was only three pieces. We finished with the salted caramel butterscotch pudding. It was delicious. In fact one of my favorite dishes of the day! It came in a small glass with all the ingredients mixed in together. Better luck next time!

Thanks to yardhouse for responding however I feel I need to clarify that the problem is in the person who takes the order, not the one who checks it. Every time I have ordered the tuna roll and realized upon returning home that it was instead poke, I have checked my bill and seen that the poke was on the receipt and not the roll. So checking orders doesn't really help if the order is wrong when it's entered into the system. I hope this helps to isolate the issue. To be fair, I'm still going to eat at yardhouse :)

Soooooo many beers to choose from! I'm not a big fan of beer, but they have a pineapple one that is really good...the truffle fries and béarnaise sliders are delicious! Fun place when there is a game on!

The staff was a bit weird. My friend and I were greeted by the a hostess at the front desk/computer and another hostess who seats people. Computer hostess didn't acknowledge our presence when we walked up; apparently that is seating hostess's job and she did it darn well, asking us how many and where would we like to sit. Computer hostess also really liked referring to us in the third person as if we weren't standing directly in front of her. Lots of "they are a party of two, they will be seated outside, seat them at 23, here are menus for them." Orders were taken by a waitress, but an army of busboys or servers or something actually delivered the food, which became a problem when we had to explain a drink issue to two different people since they apparently don't pass the word along. I ordered a Rogue hazelnut brown and a Rogue dead guy came out. Figured Rogue and Rogue are similar and maybe it was a fluke, but luckily I like Rogue so I happily drank the dead guy ale. Afterwards, I ordered a hazelnut brown again.....and again, a dead guy came out. Okay, twice in a row is not a mistake. Someone, somewhere in the process is definitely being stupid. I didn't let them try again though, I went with a brand of beer that only appeared on the menu once so there could be no more confusion. Oh, and one of the sandwiches had an option of bacon or avocado to be added. Asked for avocado and received bacon. Again, not a problem in the realm of life since both are delicious, but it's still a pretty stupid screwup. I don't know, everyone just seemed a bit off, like they could use a beer themselves. The speed was a bit weird, too. Everything happened on the slow end, even though the place only looked about half full. A taster of beer came out in 2 minutes while a pint of beer came out in closer to 10 minutes. Empty water and beer glasses would sit on the table for too long before anyone came by to ask for a refill. Asking for the right beer when the wrong one came out a second time took longer than going to the bar, getting the right beer, and coming back. The lettuce wraps had some good sauces but the lettuce had too many holes in it and you couldn't wrap it. Holes caused by rough treatment or not doing a thorough check before plating. The macadamia nut crusted fish was good, no complaints there. The baby bok choy side was incredibly sad because it was a whole two baby bok choys. I shop for this stuff, man, I know they come in a bundle of 12 or 15 for a few bucks. You don't have to skimp on them unless you want annoyed customers. The tomato soup tasted creamy, very similar to Campbell's. The grilled cheese was awesome and delicious and had lots of cheese, lots of bacon, and a metric ton of butter to make the bread that solidly fried on a griddle. Finally, the price was too high. It was only a few bucks here and there, but with 5 beers, 2 entrees, and an appetizer, that adds up. But a positive! The beer selection is indeed pretty good. Not very good, because they stick to craft brews and shy away from microbrews, but just pretty good. The selection included a good amount of beers from the state, which was also nice. So uh...yea, not the biggest fan. I agree with the reviewer who said this place is just a dolled-up TGI Fridays or Chili's. Pretty tasty, but pretty generic. Just pretty, not notably or exceptionally. I'd rather go to a gastropub for food and beer and in my experience, most of them are cheaper.

Waiting 10 mins and no stopped by our table. Finally went up to the server station to let them know we were ready to order. The lady apologized and I went back to the table. Waited another five minutes and we left. Still no water and no server. The place was two-thirds empty. It was noon on Sunday. Most people were in the bar. Seeing a mostly empty restaurant at noon on Sunday should have been a red flag but I had eaten here before and the service wasn't bad. If you value your lunch time DO NOT COME HERE. I will not be back. I don't like to write negative reviews but there was no excuse for the bad service. It was not busy and there were plenty of people working (or rather walking around).

I want to give the whole yard house chain a 3 but this one is probably the best for me because I can get a nice buzz and walk around the mall. There's so much to do once you step out of that place! the beer selection is great and the happy hour is pretty good also. I'm an IPA guy so there's a lot of options for me. they do some mixed drinks, I believe I got a pretty tasty long island iced tea when my buddy and I did a mall crawl (the "mall crawl" is where you hit every restaurant in the mall that has a bar. Its nearly impossible to make it all the way around). The food isn't bad but it isn't great. I sometimes get the mediterranean flat bread as an appetizer or the ahi poke. The pizzas aren't too bad, I think they are pretty cheap during happy hour also. One of my roomate seems to love the tortilla soup but I haven't gotten around to trying it. Really this review is based around the beer selection and the prime location.

YARD HOUSE is up there in my book! I have been quite a few times and they always have QUALITY food and a great selection of beer! Service at this location is could be better but when its busy I understand there can be some delays. All in all this is a great place and will be a STAPLE in my restaurant rotation.

This location is good. I went here with my brother and friends last weekend because my friend lives at the condo complex not far from there. The atmosphere was good, and there was energy. I ordered appetizers (guac and chips/ lobster and crab artichoke dip), which is what I get when I go here. The thing that has to be better is the service because it took a long time for food and drinks to come out.

We drove up from San Diego and mee our college kid for the day. We ate at Yard House. So disappointing from start to finish. Our server was awful. He did not even say hello when he came over. Rushed us through the order process. At the end never said, thank you. Just placed the bill on the table. I did leave a tip as the rest of the servers that came by were so friendly and nice. To top it off our food was not good. I had the French Dip and the meat was so fatty. After we left I asked my son how his Cuban was and he said, "fatty", There are plenty of places in the area to eat so we won't be going back. You can do way better, Yard House.

Accidently wrote this for a different location meaning to write it for this one at fashion island ! I usually love yard house, a fun environment , great food, and always leaving amazingly happy. I have never been to this location So my bf and I decided to go, I was sadly disappointed. We got seated almost right away. I don't think the waitress even told us her name. But we got our water and took forever to get refills, we also order chips and gauc which was amazing and tasted so fresh! But then we got our food which came out pretty fast, but it was cold . I got a cheddar bbq burger which didn't even taste like It was cooked in the past 20 minutes, and the fries were very cold. I'm not the type of person to send food back and I didn't because I was so hungry , but they should Deffinetly work on making sure everything is still somewhat warm when bringing it out ! Hopefully they were just having a bad night but I don't think I will be back to this location

I went here last night for a drink. Pat was my bartender and he was great. Even though I told him I was going to just have one beer, he changed the station on the tv from NCAA women's basketball to the Laker game for me. I ordered a Troudadour Magma IPA beer from Beligum and after that, a glass of water with a lemon slice in it. The beer was really good. I like the classic rock music playing as background noise in the restaurant. I would come here again.

I always enjoy coming here for the good food, but it's sad that the waiters are always perfect and on point. But my experience is ruined from the beginning of entering the door. Every time the same hostess ruins my experience whether it's giving me a ridiculous answer for the wait like "awhile" or "I don't know". Or if she just has us stand waiting for a extended amount of time without helping us and we have to ask a waiter to seat us. You deserve 5 but she deserves a -5.

35 minutes to sit inside!! There are all sorts of empty tables!! WTF! 45 to sit outside. BS! Then I get drink menu and the drink I want is not on there. Seriously! I'm stick to what I know. Just tried their strawberry daiquiri, gross!

Been here many times and left very positive reviews. Tonight was terrible. The salad comes and I ask for a couple of turns of pepper. He keeps going, I freaking just said a couple turns. Only 1/3rd of the way into the pepper salad and they bring me the burger. Can I finish my salad please, I guess not. Ate half then moved onto the burger. Was supposed to be medium it was medium well and burnt. Ate a few bites, stopped, they took it off the bill. They always take things off the bill, which is very nice, but the last 3 times I've been there everything is overcooked and rushed. Slow down, let people finish a course, and figure out time and temp. I should have given them a one star.

Don't be fooled by the decent review rating, this particular Yardhouse is anything but. The staff is elitist nasty and rude, especially the girls at the front desk. They have a serious attitude problem but I guess that only comes natural with the location of this restaurant in Newport Beach fashion island. They were extremely inattentive, blunt, and plain smarta$$es. No apologies or explanation for the mediocre service provided when we confronted them about it, and to top it all off as we were walking out the door we heard them make a snide remark about us behind our back which we both heard. Needless to say out of all the yardhouse locations we go to this one consistently fails to deliver and we decided not to come here anymore. The time that it takes to get your food is always three times longer than at irvine spectrum or triangle square locations at the busiest times, which both have much nicer front desk staff that actually make you feel welcome. Just awful customer service, never experienced it this bad at any restaurant in all of south county and greater orange county area. The girls working the front desk are complete brats, spoiled snobs which act like they're better than you. . Hey, you might live in a nice area and your parents are rich but you work at Yardhouse and you are there to serve us so why don't you do your job and hop off your high horse ;)

Love the food at this location! If we do a lunch or dinner out, we try to get here as much as possible! The atmosphere is great and food is very good. I've tried several things on the menu and don't have an absolute fave as pretty much everything is great! I do love that they have GARDEIN selections that are delish! Took off a star as the only pet peeve I have is that when we arrive the hostesses (at least 1 every time) just stands there and doesn't acknowledge you right when you walk in or even after you've been standing there awhile! A simple "someone will be right with you as I'm busy twirling my hair will do"! Sorry!

A really great Yard House that is located right next door to Bloomie's at Fashion Island. The staff is really friendly and there are hardly ever any waits at this location. As with all Yard Houses, the food is excellent and the happy hour is superb. My favorites are the BBQ chicken salad (HUGE chunks of chicken and crispy onion strips) or the mac and cheese... If you're a vegetarian, their Gardein selection is out of this world! They have so many different types of dishes using the Gardein "meats." I tried a few bites of the gardein mac and cheese and I would never have know that the meat was "fake." My favorite part of this Yard House is the parking situation. It is literally located right next door to a parking structure, so finding parking is NEVER an issue. Pros: -Great Parking -Great Service -Great Food -Good happy hour specials Cons: -The high top tables are uncomfortable to sit at -Bar gets crowded Tips: -Sit on the patio... The views aren't tremendous, but it's always the perfect temperature!

Took a huge group here. It started out ok - trying to accommodate such a large group - but the place was almost empty so it shouldn't have been too hard. We got warned from another group that went here the night before. We should have listened. The food was ok. Not spectacular - but nothing to complain about. The beer and service on the other hand... You expect a place like this to take great pride in beer. I ordered kronenburg - my all time fav and it was flat. Not a big deal - I sent it back and they quickly replaced it. The waiter told me that the bartender tried it and it was not flat. The second glass was more flat than the first. So I switched to boddingtons. What they brought me wasn't a boddingtons - and - it was flat. I kept this one - afraid to send another one back. Then came the ordering of dinner. I ordered a burger - waiter asked me how I waned it done - I was thinking about it - at which point he literally yelled at me "sir!?" Everyone at the table looked up at me wondering what was happening. So odd. Another guest waited over an hour for them to change a keg. There's a lot more crap just not worth getting into. We won't be going back. With all the other options in the area - one would think they would try harder. I'm also a fan of other yard house locations - this one is a let down compared to the normal excellent service and high quality of drinks.

Honestly, Yard House is one of my favorite restaurants and every time I come here things are usually great. However, this most recent visit was not so great. We were a large party of 10 and we had one server which was fine, but he wasn't attentive whatsoever. He came over to our table when we first got here and got us drinks and then he didn't stop back by until about 30 minutes later. I wasn't able to start off with any appetizers because by the time he came back to our table I was ready to put in my order because I was starving however I still ordered an appetizer thinking that maybe it would come out quickly. To make matters worse my appetizer came out after my meal LOL. Our table was just really neglected. Not cool.

This is one of the best happy hours I have ever been to as a vegetarian and vegan. Mainly because it is unusual to find a bar of this caliber with at least 7 vegetarian main dishes to choose from, utilizing Gardein, which is mainly vegetable based. Greeted by the enthusiastic happy staff, we were given a choice of seating arrangements. Opted for a sunny table on the patio. Our waiter Greyson was very cheerful and good natured. My friend ordered herself a glass of wine. I think she must have been really thirsty, because I looked once and it was gone in a blink of an eye. Our terrific happy hour appetizer MUSHROOM TOFU LETTUCE WRAPS, was half priced, and arrived in a timely manner. It came accompanied by shredded purple cabbage and 3 sauces. One was mustard based, another was pepper cilantro and I believe the other was more sweet based. We asked for a double order of lettuce and for some reason, another server different from our waiter Greyson brought out the Mushroom Lettuce Wraps. I asked if there was double lettuce with it and he assured me there was. The reason for double lettuce is so that the delicious chopped tofu mushroom filling would have less of a chance to dribble out. The butter lettuce, being natural, had some cracks and crevices. My friend and I both started to have leaks in our lettuce wraps once the sauce and filling were spooned inside. Fortunately our regular waiter Greyson returned with another plate of lettuce which helped to alleviate our sticky predicament. My humble suggestion would be to offer this as a salad, with the butter lettuce cut or chopped up underneath and the delicious chopped tofu mushroom filling on top. It is a bit difficult or challenging let's say to consume this dish otherwise. With less of a mess, it would take the happy hour to the 5th star. However since the dish was under $6 at Happy Hour we were not going to complain. Wish there were more Yard Houses around. It was reassuring to see that their menus still indicate, beside the selected dishes which are "V". Thus specifying which are vegetarian and making it easy to navigate. Their graciousness towards plant based eaters in an cool bar type setting (not a fan of dive bars) goes a long way toward brand loyalty.

A few good lunch specials. Servers are normally attentive and but sometimes can be a little slow. Shrimp Rice Bowl, $10.95 (lunch): 4/5 My favorite here, with Asian stir fry sauce and a lot of vegetables. The only problem is that it is quite salty. The first time I had it, I had to ask for more rice, and later found I was charged $4 for it. The price seems pretty steep for a bowl of rice, since other places in the same price range would offer it for free or no more than $2. After that, I either request easy sauce while ordering or wash it down with water. Soup and Half Pizza, $9.95 (lunch only) Chicken Noodle Soup: 1/5 Very bland chicken. Too much noodle and little vegetables. The noodle was very long, so it was hard to eat in that small cup. BBQ Chicken Pizza: 1/5 The crust was burnt. The topping tasted very starchy for some reason. Kid's Menu ($6.95) It includes a choice of beverage, side, entry and dessert. The Korean BBQ Beef we ordered was overcooked and I will not order it again. Might try the teriyaki chicken next time.

Service was ok. Very nice servers. Stopped in while waiting for my folks. Had fries and ceviche. Fries were ice cold and the ceviche was bland and boring. Feel like I wasn't my money. Great beer selection but bad food can't make up for that. Been to a lot of yard houses........ Not impressed with any of them. Struggling business and I can see why.

I rarely write reviews but when I find something I really like I take the time to give it a shout. The Yard House in Fashion Island deserves a shout. This review is meant for the Fashion Island location only, and most generally the bar section of the restaurant. I have been coming here for probably about 5 years on and off. I usually would stop by after work as my office is nearby. I enjoy going to this location for several different reasons... Number one is the bar staff. I usually come alone and they always take the time to chat with me about recommendations of new beers they have on draft as well as just life in general. They always remember my name and they can tell when to chat and when to let you watch the game. That's a true skill when you have a busy bar and many patrons to attend to. The second reason I enjoy coming here is the good mix of classic rock music and sports on the flat screens. And finally, although I almost always order the same beer, I enjoy the wide selection of drafts, should I ever decide to get out of my routine and change to something else. Overall I think this Yard House is well run and it's nice to have a friendly, dependable bar in Newport that isn't too pretentious for when you just want to relax, catch a game and maybe grab a bite.

This place is alright, with our server contributing to most of that feeling. The food is good, but super heavy and sometimes brought out hella oily - especially dishes like onion rings, cheesy meals, etc. I think they should change their batter because it's retaining far too much oil. The wings were hella bomb!!! And their Arnold Palmer was perfectly made! Yum!

Happy Hour is so worth it. The half off appetizers were a great value. I went with a couple of friends and we ordered an assortment of appetizers to try. I enjoyed the chicken nachos, the spinach dip, the onion ring tower, and the sliders. The outdoor seating was nice, especially when they turn on the heaters. The one bad thing about sitting outside, my chair had bird poop on it and I did not see it on my jacket till I was leaving the restaurant. There were no birds when we were eating so it must have been on the chair before I came.

Great happy hour spot! The chicken nachos are yummy! I also recommend the spicy tuna role and substitute with the ahi poke...another favorite! The mini desserts are perfect...not too big, not too small. I love the chocolate souffle and the peach apple cobble is also tasty! Great bang for your buck...

My girlfriend and I walked in here with gelato , the manager was really understanding with us bringing in outside in. My friend asks him "can I put my pint of gelato I got Togo in your freezer" he said no. Considering we work in the resteraunt business, I know what isn't allowed and not allowed. We walked out very upset.

Great place to stop in at while at Fashion Island. I come here on my lunches some days. I love the seared Ahi appetizer. I get it with a side of rice. It's the perfect lunch hour meal, it always comes out so fast. I'm not a sports fan so I don't care for all the TVs. But I love the big comfy booths. Even though I feel kind of silly sitting in a booth all by myself that could easily sit 8. Wait staff is always nice, friendly, and helpful. Check up on you just enough and make sure everything is tasting good and your water is full.

I came here to watch the Superbowl, but was a little late. The people at the front desk told us that it's open seating so we started looking for a table. As we sat down, we were told twice by two different workers that we couldn't sit there and we needed to wait for a host to seat us. We said that we were told it was open seating and they were like, "oh, never mind then". Do they not talk to each other or what?? There is a serious lack of communication in here... The menu sounded pretty delectable. We didn't really plan on eating a full meal so we ordered some appetizers to munch on during the game. We ordered the Mediterranean flat bread, Chicken nachos, and the Poke bowl. I have to say, it was extremely disappointing. The nachos were by far the most unappetizing I've ever had in my life. I don't even know how you can mess these up. The poke bowl was lacking flavor, it just seemed like they drizzled some soy sauce on it. And the flat bread tasted kind of funny. I had never been to Yard House so I'm not sure if they're all as sucky as this one, or if it's just this location that's bad. Or maybe they were just having an off-night. But the food was no good. I'll give them an extra star just for not kicking us out while we sat and watched the entire game.

Scolded by the the manager for being too loud?? Seriously?? It's a BAR with 100 beers on tap that serves YARDS of beer called the Yard House. Cater to your 60+ crowd and see how long that lasts.

always been a fan of yard house. i love just about everything they have and they have a large selection of beer. i normally go during their happy hour time. - fried calamari - buffalo wings traditional - seared ahi sashimi - chicken garlic noodles - spinach cheese dip - chicken lettuce wraps - onion ring tower - classic sliders - margherita pizza specialty drinks $2.00 off wine by the glass $2.00 off

Its nice to come here to hang out and chat with friends. I came during the happy hour so the food was half of, which is a plus. Isn't it nice to sit on the shore looking to the beach at night, with all the wind and the yellow light, it calms me down. The service was definitely excellent. The waiter was attentive and helpful. He recommended us to try new food and new beer. The onion ring tower was fun to look at and was yummy to eat. The bbq chicken pizza was ok, a little too dry imo. The chipolet chicken wings was good, perfectly cooked. I dont know why people complained to much about service. Ive been here multiple times, and yet, the service were all excellent.

HORRIBLE 1ST experience!! I was in the neighborhood and since I had considered having my birthday dinner @yard house THIS month (november) I decided to check it out with my mom in advance before deciding on coming here for my birthday. Well needless to say they made my decision for me. I will take my business elsewhere. We came in at about 7pm nov. 7th and we were seated after about a short 10min wait. We ordered a couple clam chowders $6.95 each and a house margarita$7.25 to start and are the ONLY reason they have 1+ stars because the soup and the margarita were great! Now we ordered our main entree the lobster garlic noodles at about 7.25pm. 40minutes Later we're getting worried because our food STILL has not come out. We were waiting for our waitress audrey to come and tell us sorry about the wait it'll be out or something of that nature but instead i guess she was a bit preoccupied with the table behind because something was going on that i think a manager came out to talk to them as well. I noticed she was busy and could not get her attention so i asked another waiter to help us out and check on our order. HERE COMES THE GOOD PART AUdrey comes out and re-asks us our order becaue apparently something happened and our order was NEVER PUT IN! OMG i was soo upset! she apologized and said that she would tell them to bring it out asap but honestly by this point we're so frustrated and upset that we're not hungry so i said no thank you and asked for the check. She brought the check out and kept apologizing but didn't really do anything to make up for it all she said was sorry and if we wanted to order something else. Yeah right. This is so unacceptable being a waitress myself if something like this would happen i would give them 10% off or a free desert or something because even though she was an excellent waitress before this mishap, all in all it was HER FAULT our order was not put in. we left disappointed and unsatisfied. 1st and last time i come here. So like i said i'll be taking my money elsewhere for my birthday celebration. hmph

This is a great place to go for happy hour or to watch a game. Fantastic beer selection, great drinks, good appetizers, but very mediocre entrees. The staff is great, our waitress remembered all of our drinks and we were a table of 15+. I highly recommend the following appetizers: seared ahi sashimi, lettuce wraps, calamari and lobster, crab and artichoke dip. Would definitely go back for a game and some bites!

I took my employee for his performance review at lunch time on a Wednesday. We both had the lunch special for $10 where you can chose two items from a selection of soups, salads, pizzas and sandwiches. I had the BBQ chicken pizza with a Caesar salad. Both were very good. My employee had the French Dip sandwich and requested steamed veggies. He was happy with his meal. The Yard House usually plays their music on the loud side, so we asked to sit outside. It worked out just fine and our service was terrific.

This is the 3rd Yardhouse I've been to and probably the worst... came on a Friday evening, the place was CRACKIN, workers everywhere busting their asses and we were seated rather quickly for how busy they were. Ordered a couple of different appetizers, and when we got them, they were room temp, bland, and to be honest, not appetizing at all! Truffle fries tasted like regular fries with no seasoning - cold and limp, the flat bread pizza was semi cooked and had no flavor, the soup looked like some one threw up in a bowl and served it to us. I would give this place 1 star, but I know our server was doing her best to make sure we had whatever we needed...and making sure I had a full glass of beer when I was ready for it.

I came here for a good friend's birthday and ordered a lobster sauce/shrimp and crab noodle dish with a side of garlic fries. The noodles had a hint of an oriental taste to it but was extremely oily which gave me a headache. In general, I think their food is really oily and the fries were skinnier than I imagined. (I am a fan of fat fries.) Service was decent but I wouldn't say I'm a fan of this restaurant.

I really love each time that I come to the Yard House. The drinks are great, the service is awesome, and they are always really busy, so they must be doing something right! My family and I all really enjoyed our meals and had a great time watching the football game and enjoying our drinks. I definitely recommend it!

This is definitely the best Yard House location I've visited by far. They have a friendly staff who really care about their customer and are very tentative to anything you might need. You can tell this is a well managed restaurant with very genuine managers on staff.

Likes: Half sandwich half salad combo. Got the pastrami sandwich with the soy citrus salad. Soy citrus dressing was slightly salty. Comfy booths. Flat screen TVs everywhere. Dislikes: Dark inside on a sunny day.

Came here for New Year's Eve with a group of friends. The food was decent and the selection of beers was impressive. They had my favorite beer, Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale. I would recommend the petite filet mignon and the nachos. The service was decent and they were very accommodating to the two children we had with us. I will definitely come here again and look forward to trying some other items on the menu.

Great service from the bartenders, even when my co workers and I ambush the bar around closing after we get off work. With a plethora of beer and food to choose from, the Yard House is definitely a great spot to eat and hangout. I tend to stick to happy hour apps and pizzas (poke stack is phenomenal) but if youre looking for a solid lunch, my go to is the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup!

Located in the beautiful Newport Beach Fashion Island where luxury meets fine dining This was my first time to this place, but I've only heard good things about this shopping plaza. I was amazed with the scale and design of Fashion Island. I know Yard House is part of a chain of restaurants, and I was just dying to try this place out. It reminds me of a BJ's and Claim Jumper combined in both look and menu. I opted for the YardHouse burger, and do I have to say was it DE-LISH! The burger was cooked perfectly medium (just how I like it) and the portions of shoestring fries were just as good. The service was great especially for it being so busy on a Saturday night, and our waitress really made sure we liked our food as well as our waters were filled. In terms of price, it was moderate where the dishes on average were $10-13. Really a great place to have a fun meal with friends and family!

It's Yardhouse, you can't go wrong with it. It is what it is. Gladly take a seat at the bar, have a few beers, share a few appetizers. Eh, sometimes you wind up sitting next to a group of crazies, but for the most part you can enjoy the game and catch up with friends over a few drinks, why not?

I've come here a few times to get out of the office and to celebrate birthday lunches. This past week it was for my dear friend James. The food here is good. Its consistent with all the other Yarh house's Ive been too. They seem to have a good happy hour but I dont never make it here during those hours. The staff here is very friendly. Our waiter on this particular day was a Hottie. That alone made our lunch break a good one. We both seem to be a creature of habit and ordered the same exact thing we had on our last visit here. I got their Mac & Cheese and he got the Chicken Penne pasta both off the lunch special. We also shared the sweet potato fries and the maple bacon dip. Their M&C has great taste! Nice chuncks of bacon, wild mushroom, chicken and a good amount of cheese and the truffle oil does it for me. The Penne is actually really good too with the sun dried tomato, asparagus and chicken tossed in a cream sauce. Next time will have to order something else. Yeah thats what I said last time I was here!!!

I work in the area so my co-workers and I used to go there for lunch, dinner, happy hour, etc. We have now stopped going and I will not recommend anybody to go to this Yard House due to the extremely poor service!!! The staff constantly gets orders wrong and make sure you double check your bill. It became like a game when the bill came because it was always wrong and items we never ordered were on it. In short, just a really unorganized restaurant with a poor staff from the managers to the wait staff.

Never coming to this location again. Been here twice and both times had horrible service and food. First time here we came with a bigger party and service was slow. I can understand that since we had a bigger party but I was still disappointed. A friend ordered food and it came out extremely cold and salty. It was so inedible we had to send it back. The second time we came here was probably even worse than the first. We only had a party of 6 and were sitting pretty close to the waiter station but we pretty much never saw our waitress. It took 30+ minutes to get our onion rings and nachos. Our entrees came at a reasonable time BUT I found this mystery ingredient in my salad. The waitress claimed it was a fried mushroom but my salad had NO fried ingredients in it. I was grossed out and to make matters worse nobody even offered to comp my salad or bring me a new one. So disappointed in this location. I actually ended up at the Yardhouse at LA Live the next day and received a complete 180 degree change in service and quality in food. I strongly recommend you do not come here!!

Since the sun did not come out on the 4th of July. Instead of laying out at the pool or going to the beach. We decided to go to Fashion Island. Plenty of Upper Crust places to choose from. The Yard House never fails: So much to order it can be overwhelming: Appetizers: Crispy wings- they were OK I decided on the Sesame Crusted Salmon Ginger, mashed potato's, and veggies on the side. This dish is F*in Amazing!!!!! This has to be the best Salmon dish I ever had.... Try this you won't be disappointed!! around $23 bucks! Dessert was mini CrEme Brulee chocolate chips at the bottom...... it was served cold. I prefer it warm.....priced @ 4.95 The best thing about it... was the Caramelized coating on top of the dish and the bananas. Otter than that it just tasted like pudding with sliced bananas.

Happy Hour deals are so worth it. The food is cheap and the drinks are very reasonably priced! (: The fried calamari appetizer was amazing.. just enough crunch and the texture of the calamari blended so nicely with the breading, it didn't fall apart in the marinara sauce or the tartar sauce. That's always a plus. I also got the spinach cheese dip and it was very yummy. A bit on the garlic-y side but still very mouthwatering. The pita bread was a nice way to compliment the richness of the cheese and spinach combination.

Erica W. was the worst waitress. Waited 10 minutes for her to arrive after we sat down, didn't introduce herself (had to find her name on my check), and stood around doing nothing plain in sight in the kitchen. Food was great as always, our waitress just ruined the experience.

Beautiful digs, beautiful girls, good service, and good food. My buddy and I were here for a late Sunday lunch and it was all good. In the background were large screen TV's with NCAA basketball during this March madness, as well as other sports. It was loud, but the table we had near one corner we could actually hear ourselves talk. We originally planned to dine at Cheesecake Factory, but every grandmother looked like she was being taken out by their kids and grandkids. Same was true at PF Changs. Grannie Sunday was in full force at Facist Island...er Fashion Island mall. Here at the Yard house, a more circular smaller version of the Spectrum location, we were greeted in the front by two friendly pretty hostesses, and the same for the waitress that we had. It was clear to us that even if they were dumb and lazy, we wouldn't complain so much...up to a point. But fortunately, they we had an excellent waitress and her colleagues that came by had similar nice "personalities" LOL. I had the usual bernaise sliders to go with my 6 regular beer sampler as they were out of the Belgian beer sampler. Three were IPA's, one (sissy) cherry ale, and two regular ales.Except for the cherry beer, they were awesome with my beefy, fried onion bernaise burger. I loved the way the meat was crusty seared and slightly greasy and tasty. Given my carbs from the beer, I could only finish two of them little bugers and I took the other two home. I liked the shoestring frieds that they come with. My friend had the Margherita Pizza, good in his opinion, but it didn't comeo out piping hot like we've had at the Spectrum. He also finished just half and took the rest home. The waitress packed it to go for us. The food did take a little long to get to us, but we didn't mind as the scenery...the basketball games, that is. were fun to watch. There were some families here as well, mostly little babies and their almost drunk parents, along with groups of friends hanging out on a Sunday. Nice vibe, definitely a fun place to be, and there were also some patio seats though not available at this time. it's a chain, their executive chef corporate wide is a Filipino dude which I like but doesn't mean anything to anyone else. OK so I am shallow at times with my opinions...but I have always liked this chain mainly for the beers and very diverse menu. I have probably tasted well over 100 types of beer over the years and except for the overly sweet ones, have loved them all. We will be back again.

This was a 3 1/2 star dinner. A-Ok. I'm rounding up and not down because of our wonderful service by Dayle. She was friendly, attentive and fun! For drinks I ordered my standard Martini. My daughter ordered a pineapple express. Very refreshing with pineapple and some mint. Started out with yummy guacamole and chips. We added some carrot sticks too. I loved the guacamole and my daughter found it to be a bit lemony but good. For meals I ordered the small Cobb salad. I love when you can choose regular or small salads. I often find there is too much in a regular salad. It was fresh and A-OK. My daughter ordered the mac n cheese. This was good with mushrooms, bacon and it wasn't too cheesy. Rich and good. For dessert we shared a salted Carmel butterscotch pudding. Not to big and perfect to share. It was a nice way to end the meal. I would definitely return.

This is possibly one of my favorite Yardhouses (I have been to four total). It doesn't seem quite as big and therefore, doesn't get quite as loud. Having my entire party carded every time I go here is a little tedious and makes me wonder if there have been LCB issues here before, but it's the law and I get it. There is always room at the bar and the drinks are always well done. Happy hour never seems to be with me here, but I think that is more my fault then theirs.

Yelp should allow for half points. I wouldn't say this is 3 stars or 4 stars, but... maybe 3.2 stars. Ok, maybe 3.3. Screw it... 3.4. I mean it's good, but 4 stars makes it seem like Morton's. 3 stars and it's Soup Plantation. I don't know. "Yah! I'm a fan", though. It's true. I dig it. Food is usually solid. Decent selection of beer. Wine list is a little weak, but it's a beer joint. I usually get the Jambalaya, so... I can't help you with the food. No, I take that back. Get the Jambalaya. I like this location over the Spectrum (mainly because I can't stand the Spectrum). Jesus, Joseph, and Mary!!!! 3.5 stars. This is going to haunt me. What if it's actually 3.1? My brain is melting.

Really hoping that today was just an "off" day, because our food was AWFUL! I ordered the lunch combo with a Prime rib dip, chicken noodle soup, and French fries. My boyfriend ordered a Hawaiian burger with clam chowder. First round, the soups. Mine was so salty I had to pour my water in it to try to dilute it. It tasted like the Kraft powder chicken noodle soup that comes in the little foil package. So awful! My boyfriend's clam chowder was okay at best. There were no clams, so really it was more of a chowder with nothing in it. What a disappointment. Next, the main course. My prime rib dip came on stale, flavorless bread. There was only meat and bread with no veggies or anything else. The meat tasted like stale cheap deli meat that was thrown in a pan. My boyfriends Hawaiian burger had ONE piece of pineapple and was soooo plain. The French fries had to be heavily salted to be remotely edible. Seriously such a disappointment. I will not be returning.

Yard house is a classic for outdoor seating on a warm evening, a cold drink pit stop with their wide selection of beers and cocktails, and variety of menu items. There is something for everyone. I love their appetizers and snack plates bc I love trying multiple items in one sitting. I always have to get the swordfish street taco which is hands down the best taco I have ever had the pleasure of trying. I love their lettuce wraps because the greens are so crunchy and fresh and they will give you a stack high if you ask for more. Love this little spot.

I always get the thai pizza, spicy tuna roll ( a giant spicy tuna salad w no rice or lettuce or mayo, but topped w edamame avocados and other stuff), traditional buffalo wings, lettuce wraps, fried calamari are all good and around 7 bucks during happy hour. I especially like this yardhouse location cuz its their food is always spot on..consistent! And its in a mall or shopping center Plenty of parking and good for large parties.

No wait for inside, but 15-20 for outside. Not a big deal because basketball was on and I wanted to see all the games and there are plenty of TVs. We ordered beers to start with Ahi Poke to start. It took a good 10 minutes to get our beers. The Poke was great as always. We ordered a burger and ordered it rare. The food arrived and I could tell immediately the burger was well done. We cut it open and yep, well done. They sent it back and offered to comp the meal, we told them thanks, but we just want a burger cooked to our liking. They brought the burger out and said the chef cooked it himself. It was cooked perfectly. If they could do that with every meal, that would be great. Every beer took a while to get once ordered. We learned to order a beer with half of the current one left. Yardhouse has great beer and that's what they are known for. The good food is a bonus.

Good place to have snack and beer. They are saying the most draft beers in the US or something like that. I had something with hefe. Was good. Actually food in Yard House is quite good and cheap. If you have a few hours to waste, Yard House is perfect choice.

Friendly, casual, good drinks (maybe a little light) great value for appetizers and drinks during happy hour, which ends at 6:00 here. How does 4 drinks and two appetizers (which were really good and big) for $45.00 including tax and tip sound?! A little noisy, but in a good way. I didn't like the distraction of all the TVs but that's probably just me. Go for happy hour and you'll be a fan!

Came here during happy hour before my second happy hour at Fleming's. This location seemed to be on the smaller side (in comparison with the locations at the Spectrum and Brea). Our bartender was very attentive and made us feel welcomed at the bar. Prices during happy hour is awesome! Half-off appetizers and other select items like pizza. We opted for a couple of beers and the chicken wings. I have been to many restaurants which "specialize" in chicken wings, but I do think Yard House is consistently better. Good flavor and meat, and not overly fried. I left paying around $20 for three imported beers and wings. Still the best happy hour around!

The reason why I came to the Yard House was because my kids were hungry and we were tired. We didn't want to walk so long so we went to the Yard House. We waited for 30 minutes to get seated. Once we got a table, we ordered. Our appetizer came out (15 min later) and we didn't have any plates or utensils. We kept asking and 10 min later we got our plates. 10 min later we got our drinks. My kids gulped their drinks down quickly. My kids shared with my wife. Their jambalaya rice was under cooked and cold. Everything we ordered was cold. The waitress asked if we wanted to refill our drinks. We agreed. We waited for 5 minutes ( no drinks yet ). Another 5 min later we got our drinks. The kids ordered their desserts. 20 minutes later the check came. My kids were wondering where their desserts were. Finally when it came out, they were actually disappointed. One scoop a drizzle of fudge and small amount of whipped cream. It was even melted. My family won't be coming there anymore. At all.

I was here with my family on Mother's Day. It was packed and our food came out oddly segmented. My brother's burger was well when he asked for medium rare. He was hesitant about sending it back just because it was so busy. But the manager checked on us twice and made everything right. My mom and I love the the elderflower champagne, and we watched the Players in Sawgrass. The food was yummy. Our burger lovers were happy. I had a turkey cobb salad, the half order is plenty. My Dad got seared scallops which were delicious. The manager sent us desserts and I was in a confectionary heaven :) My favorite was the Coffee, chocolate chip sundae. Thank you!!

I've visited this location about six times. The servers are friendly and attentive, the food is always good and they have lots of great beer! It can get a bit busy on the weekends. I've had to wait for 20 minutes on occasion, but that is the case with most decent restaurants.

A TGIFridays in disguise. Located in a large, upscale mall. Spotty service, mediocre food but the twist is their prices are higher. Average burgers...fries...everything was average except the service. They did have HH prices. Could be a good spot after work. Not many alternatives in the area though.

Good food. One of the smaller Yard Houses I have been too. Food came out quickly. All of the ciders are great. The ahi tuna salad doesn't come with a lot of ahi, four little baby pieces. I wouldn't order it again.

Friday afternoon lunch. Ahi sandwich was fine no complaint there. However, how can you have an establishment called the Yard House and serve a Guiness that is flat and poured with no head? The Guiness police would have shut the place down. Guiness sent back with no problem but it was the point of the visit. Very disappointing.

I've here twice and the food is always excellent, the staff polite and very friendly and the environment fun. We recommend Happy Hour and usually get: Sliders (classic) w fries Chicken Lettuce Wraps Pizza - we've had the Hawaiian Chicken Fingers Clam Chowder The beer is fantastic too! So far we've had the Firestone DBA and it's so great we don't even need to try all their others!! You can't forget dessert... Mini Lemon Soufflé Cake (SO yummy!)

This Yard House location is nice and spacious, lots of TV's, and has outdoor seating for smaller parties. The service was friendly, but slow, not only the food, but drinks too. I'm really not a fan of their food, everything I've tried was fair at best, typical chain quality. I tend to go because it's a good place for large groups, but more importantly the Yard House is a great place to broaden your beer horizons by trying out new brews.

First time to this Yard House. The sliders and fries were great!!! Perfect snack for light lunch with a beer. What made this experience so fantastic was the service that we received from Julia the manager. She was very knowledgable and gave the perfect beer recommendation for each of us. She gave us some information about going online to track our favorite beers. We live down south but will make this a regular stop when we are in New Port.

Enjoyable place and location for lunch. I admit to not being a fan of their menu, as I find many items that don't appeal to me and I'd never try. However, the food I've eaten here has always been very good. They have sliders that some with Bernaise sauce and while not 5 star restaurant quality, very good and very difficult to find Bernaise at a non-5 star restaurant. Saucy!!! It's a difficult sauce I've heard from chefs themselves. The burgers/sliders are served with shoestring fries and I admit that I'm not a fan of this type of fry, especially as they lose any and all heat and are barely lukewarm by the time they hit your table. Yep I did it, I've given them a whole star less because of their fries. For the bar-beer drinkers-happy hour people-football watchers, this looks like a great set up to enjoy some sports and libations. Service has been hit or miss for me, sometimes good, sometimes not so good.

My fiancé got food poisoning after eating French dip sandwich with fries here today. He and his colleagues came here for lunch at noon. His stomach started feeling sick a few hours later and he has been throwing up a few times since. I hope he would get better soon and this won't happen to other customers.

I like the ribs. Any meats really. Their dimmed lighting makes it hard to see your company. Other than that, the portions were good. The food was good.

I am rating this place soley based on SPORTS watching only. Came here with some friends to watch the Notre Dame game vs. Michigan State and was promptly told there were no TVs BUT ONE available to watch the game. I asked why and the manager told me that the TVs (within my line of sight) were requested to show the USC game. I quickly did a survey of who potentially could have requested but saw NOONE interested in even watching the TVs hanging above their head. Aside from not noticing anyone watching the TVs in our line of sight - if you take a survey of how many TVs are in this place you would find ALOT. For every line of sight, angle, head turn, etc you can find a TV with a USC game on. So changing one TV meant the "PERSON" who requested could easy shift their eyes to the left or right to watch the other TV showing the game. If you are a sports bar then you should cater to sports. Fine there are a ton of USC folks in NPB so I get needing the game on but put it on the main screen and turn the sound on. But this bar place had so many TVs that they could turn on all the main games on and still had TVs left over to show the USC games. Not impressed at all. This place should send some folks to Chicago to show how bars with true school affliations do it! Otherwise I am sure this is a fine place to dine but a horrible place to be a sports fan!

My family and I went to the Yard House today for lunch. We decided to sit outside but it ended up being to cold so I went up to the front desk to request a table inside. The hostess by the name of Christie I believe was very rude about it and rolled her eyes at the request. We ended up waiting 10 minutes for a table inside when there was hardly anyone there. The hostess Davina then helped us was very sweet and understanding. Our waitress Kailynn was very nice and our food was good. About 2 hours later I realized I left my credit card there and had to return to get it. I walked in and saw Christie there and explained my situation. She once again was rude and told me to hold on while she then started helping a waiter with an order. I waited 10 more minutes until the manager helped me. So basically my review is to say the food is good but your hostess was a really unprofessional and rude. I won't frequent this Yard House simply from one person. Praise to Davina and Kailynn for being nice and friendly. ..As a restaurant employees should be.

Not sure if this is a major chain restaurant or not. I do know that they have their act together. The food, drinks, and desserts were all top notch and it the place just had a fun vibe to it. I had one of their tall local brews. Even if the places you visit aren't local, you should at least make sure the beer is (if you are drinking beer). Save the Bud Light for fishing.

So many beers on tap I loved the variety. Their brews were not bad either. A little pricey but worth going once or twice.

Came here for the first time for my boyfriend's little birthday get-together recently and definitely enjoyed it! Came in to check in with the front desk because I had made the reservations and pointed out our party, slyly telling them we had a birthday boy in the party. (They offer a small complimentary soufflé with a candle for the birthday boy/girl) Little did I know the woman I was talking to would speak to her coworker SO loudly that he could obviously hear what I was trying to do (A for effort right?) BUT I will let that one slide because we were seated within minutes AND our waitress was so amazing (wish I still remembered her name)! She made sure the drink I ordered for the birthday boy (an old fashioned, off the menu but his favorite) was PERFECT for his preference as well as cooperatively making sure the bill wouldn't get to him like I had asked. They also conveniently gave us an option of splitting the bill individually which made it so much less stressful on our end. All in all, great service!! As for the food, I tried the spicy jambalaya and it was alright for my taste. The smallest size was the perfect portion for a small eater like me. Others from the party seemed to enjoy their food (some highlights were the lobster dip appetizer and Caribbean chicken penne) and of course the drinks as well! The complimentary soufflé for the birthday boy was BOMB! Would definitely consider coming back with friends or for my own birthday celebration in the future.

I don't really know what's with the low 3.5 overall because I really see nothing wrong with this place at all. It's a nice looking sports bar atmosphere. What I ordered was the New York Steak Sandwich. Now I gotta say: I love my steak (in fact when I'm in school, I cook for myself just about everyday and it's usually steak with a side of something). My favorite cut of steak is the New York Strip. I've never had it in a sandwich until now, but when I did, it was heavenly. The steak was SLIGHTLY chewy, but that comes with eating a steak without using a fork and knife lol. I guess it was on the greasy side with the bread also being lathered up in mayo or some type of grease. Either way, it was delightful. I wish I could just go in and get it but it's a little far from me. Sweet potato fries that I ordered with it were also tasty. I also got deviled eggs on the side. THAT was also tasty. Too bad there were only 3. Overall, kinda pricey, but very tasty food and they even had my beer (Hoegaarden)!!

I will give a little extra rating because they let me friends and I stay at our table for 5 hours. The server was very helpful and attentive, and the layout was enjoyable. A little smaller than most of the Yardhouse that I have been to. Ordered a Downtown Brown with their fish tacos. Tacos were great served on a plate that looked appetizing. A good backup plan in Fashion Island, comparable to everything in price and quality.

quick late night service update: - it bothers me how understaffed this Yardhouse is for late night happy hour. Beyond the hostess handing out menus after seating, it is absolutely frustrating that it takes almost 10 minutes each time to even get remote acknowledgement from the staff. Yes, I know- it is not the wait staff's fault that they are understaffed, but still- it's frustrating. I wish the fashion island's Yardhouse were as well staffed for late night as the Yardhouse at the Spectrum. For goodness sakes, regardless of what hour you walk in, there is at least 2/3 people at the hostess stand at Spectrum (compared to the 1 (2 if you're lucky) person at Fashion).

me and a group of my friends including family visiting from overseas dined at Yard house in fashion island, since it has always been our favorite restaurant in orange county area, also a decent place to take our parents to. at the end of the night my friend's mom who does not speak English went out to answer her phone trying not to speak in the restaurant and make other people inconvenient. but they didn't let her back in saying they closed the kitchen and don't let people in. we asked for the manager and he treated us very badly since we are not american and came from another country, because there was no way he would treat white people the same. we told him she is not done with her food and the manager insisted we can't let her in ( btw it was very cold outside). I would like everyone to know about this problem which was an embarrassment for the restaurant and also for us infront of our family.

I feel that I should give Yard House a 4 star rating because I always have a great experience, but I'm not inclined to give chains 4 stars. I've sat at the bar every time, and the bar tenders are knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. They always recommend a craft beer or something I've not experienced before, and they always have cider selections that are not available at other bars. This time I had the seasonal pumpkiind cider. The food always is excellent. This time I chose the halibut with asparagus. It was outstanding. Kudos.

I love this location. It can be fun and romantic. Upscale sports bar atmosphere that's great for dates or happy hour! They also have a great selection of vegetarian options. My mom and I couldn't even tell it wasn't real meat! My fav happy hour recommendation: Garlic noodles.

Giving two stars for friendly waiter. Other than that the food was meh. Too many items on menu to be done well. Literally 6 pages of small print. Thought I would play it safe and order burgers. Had the classic sliders. Super greasy. Husband had burger with peppers on it. Also bought it was kind of gross in a greasy kind of way. Added side salads which came with WAY too much dressing. It's recommended to ask for it on the side. Not sure how this place is so popular bc we just tried it on a whim when we couldn't find anywhere to eat.

Came here on a Sunday night and it wasn't the packed which is great. I had a chicken enchilada stack and it was so good. Except the chicken was dry and a little hard. So I told our waiter, Erica W. and she let the GM Joe know. He came over to us and kindly apologized and took it off the bill. Which is great! I normally don't have issues with food here so it wasn't so much a big deal. But GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! KEEP IT UP!(:

I've always been a fan of Yardhouse and esp their HHs. Came here, post HH, for drinks and dinner. The bartender was very helpful and nice. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger and added a side of French onion soup. While the burger was fine, the onion soup was way too salty, and if I think it's salty it's pretty bad because I have a very high salt tolerance. At first I didn't want to send it back because I've had some bad experience with restaurants that get very mean and offended when you criticize their food, but after a while I decided to let them know anyways. I told the bartender and he was very nice about it and took it away and said I won't be charged, about 5 min later I think it was the mgr, he came by to inquire about it too and was also very pleasant. Yay for you Yardhouse. So even though the soup was not to my liking, I still look forward to coming back and trying more beers and tasty bites.

I love this place. It is amazing. The food is delicious. I absolutely LOVE the avocado swiss burger. It is my favorite, but all their food options I've tried are so good. They have a great happy hour too. The atmosphere is great if you are looking for somewhere to go to watch a game. All the staff members are super nice. The only downsides are that it can be really loud so it might not be the best place to go to have a conversation. Also, if you go during a big game or a weekend night, there can be a pretty long wait. But it is well worth the wait.

This is the place to go for happy hour with friends. Good conversation, 1/2 priced pizza and other appetizers plus drinks = happy times. After shopping around Fashion Island, my friends and I were thirsty and hungry. So, we arrived at Yard House around 2:40 pm for happy hour (even though it starts at 3pm). We decided to sit outside in the patio area since it was a nice day out. However, it was kind of a bad move since the waitress came to give us menus and water and didn't return to take our actual order until 3pm, which worked out fine, I guess since we wanted happy hour pricing...but still 20 minutes to come back and take our order is a long time. I don't have much to comment on the food since it was okay, margarita pizza and pineapple and ham pizza. It was okay, not good, not bad. It didn't blow my mind away. The spicy tuna roll, which is really more like a spicy tuna tartare with spicy wasabi, sriracha tasting sauce, crunchy cucumbers was quite good...light and refreshing. Drinks were good, known for their yard size drinks... it's a lot to drink, so make sure you are thirsty and not the DD.

Normally I love yard house, but this was not a great experience. My boyfriend and I went to grab a bite before a movie, and our waitresses switched, then switched back. Then, 45 minutes later, as we are waiting for our food and beer (which my boyfriend had to go order for himself at the bar), we are told our orders were never placed, and we have a new waiter. Food finally comes, and it was not the best pasta I've ever had. Overall, I won't be going back to this yard house.

What can you say about a chain restaurant. It's pretty much the same every where and it isn't any different here. The staff were fun people and pleasant to interact with. It's a great place to try beers and they are a micro-brew so that's makes it even better. Overall good.

Overall this is a great restaurant - service, food, beer. Everything is above average. I have had many many items from the menu here and have been very satisfied with everything - steak, fish, pizza, etc. They have a custom take on items like a California roll, but it is actually great. Very good portions on everything. Excellent beer selection - in particular very happy with the overall IPA selection. Last time had a couple Big Eye IPAs from Ballast Point, which is a beer you hardly ever find on tap, and also had a Firestone Union Jack. $6.50 per pint. Their Creme Brulee is one of my personal favorites - with the layer of hard chocolate at the bottom. Delicious. Service and cleanliness has been above average.

I happened to visit the restaurant two times in one week and both times I ordered two different burgers. Both times I asked for them well done. Both times they were not. The second time our server seemed very flustered since it was a busy night. It took him a very long time to bring our drinks and food. At least he re-filled out drinks a lot. Their mac and sheese and enchilada stacks are delicious! The portions of food are very big so you definitely get what you pay for.

This is the worst Yard House I have been to. I have visited 4 of them over the years and they generally do a great job of maintaining consistent quality in all locations but this one stands out as the exception. I have been to the Fashion Island Yard House 5 or 6 times and the quality of the food always seems to be lacking. The last time I was there the food came out cold. The time before that they brought out the wrong food...twice in a row. Today I ordered the pepper crusted gorgonzola burger and it tasted a little off. I finally realized there was no pepper on it. I brought it to the attention of the server and she shrugged her shoulders. I have ordered these in other locations many times and know what the patty looks like with the pepper crusted on it. I definitely recommend the Costa Mesa location as the food is always good and the service is fantastic. Today was my last time going to Fashion Island YH.

So, I was stuck between 3-4 stars. The reason for doubting if they deserve 4 is because I do not like waiting. Everytime I am here I feel like I am waiting regaurdless location. I have been here quite a few times (15+) for meeting, dates, birthdays, happy hour and I have never once been too "upset." Their food was always okay but I figured it's KNOWING what you order. Tonight, I have finally discovered my new found love for their burgers. The AVACADO SWISS TURKEY(tofu based substitute) BURGER was amazing. I replaced the side of fries with their caesar salad -- which was absolutely amazing once again. they make their own cheese. they call it parmesan crisp! The croutons had soft fluffy crunch into itI was extremely happy with my meal today.

Heard so much about the Yard House because I had some friends were hardcore customers here. Came here with a group and it was surprisingly calm for a Friday night? The service was ok and the food was good. The servers were as friendly as expected and the response time was prompt. It was pretty loud but you should expect that at a sports bar setting. I liked the fact that the menu had a good selection of beer and a nice compliment of food to go along with it. We mowed through the appetizers and had a beer. It was nice.

It might be a chain but this one is defiantly worth checking out. I was there for the happy hour, and the pleasant variety of outstanding appetizers were all half price. We had spicy tuna roll, chicken lettuce wrap, calamari and pizza all great and combined with a huge selection of interesting beer (we were offered samples on several) it was a hit

Never went to Yard House before....but I think the bf and I will try it out a bit more often now. =) We went to Crystal Cove in the morning. There was an hour to two hour wait for Beachcomber, so we scrammed out of the Crystal Cove State Park when we got too hungry and the Beachcomber line wasn't lessening. Decided to go into the Fashion Island area. Interesting enough, no real food interested us. Finally just went into one of the huge parking lots, parked, got out, and hauled ass to the closest restaurant we could find. Voila, Yard House. We were seated really promptly, and no one was really there (11am on a Sunday). By the time we left at 12:20pm, the place was pretty full with lots of families. Had a great window table (it probably would have easily seated a group of 6 or 8), with wonderfully huge windows that we had to ask for it to be closed since the beer coasters were beginning to be thrown around by the wind. Denise was our server, and she was a darling. Very helpful, gave us plenty of time to decide our foods (especially since it was our first time there), and was really patient with us. I eventually ordered the Southern belle drink, which consisted of strawberries, pineapples, lemonade, and vodka; nice and sweet, and you can't taste the alcohol very much. The bf had to drive, so he got the virgin mojito....which was basically sprite with mint. But it was still really good! For appetizers, we had the deviled eggs and the grilled pita with hummus. The deviled eggs weren't bad, but I was a little disappointed that for 2.95 we got one and a half eggs that basically had tomato sauce on it. Eh. As for the pita with hummus, I thought that there would have been a bit more spices in the hummus. The texture was good for the hummus, but it felt like some sort of spice was missing. =/ The pita was pretty tough, too.... For the main entree, I had the spicy jambalaya with jasmine rice. Mmmm, definitely spicy enough (especially for the warm Sunday we had), and the flavor was even throughout the dish. At the time, I sort of wished I had the full portion instead of the lunch portion. However, my bf decided to not get a lunch entree. Oh, noooo, he HAD to get the full-size portion of the Surf and Turf burger, which consisted of swiss cheese, grilled asparagus, maine lobster sautéed in garlic butter, tomato béarnaise. He absolutely LOVED it. Never saw him happier. He ate the asparagus and lobster separate from the burger. Burger itself was nice, tender, and juicy. The fries were absolutely WONDERFUL. Beer-battered....oh dear gawd, I didn't know how good that would be. In the end, the bf couldn't finish his burger because he could not stop eating the fries. I need to try one of their beers next time. Overall, nice place, good service, good food. Pretty happy about the experience. =)

Between 3 people: 6 pints, 2 orders of wings, a tower of onion rings, sweet potato fries, and chicken lettuce wraps. All for $55. God I love happy hour. If you're a Hefeweizen fan like me, I suggest trying the Blue Hawaiian, I enjoyed that one. The boys had IPA's and 2 other drinks I can't remember, but they seemed to thoroughly enjoy their pints and we're all bubbly near the end of our meal. Our goal is to try every drink on that menu, it'll be a challenge, but I hope to someday, perhaps a long while from now, but nonetheless SOMEDAY finish that menu!

Had a nifty little lunch date here. Foodwise, I've always been a fan of Yard House's cuisine, no matter the location. Pretty much what distinguishes my taste for one location over another is generally the service. And today's service was great. Foodwise, I'm usually a fan of their appetizers since they're just the right size for me. Today I ordered the baby spinach salad (640calories in a salad???) and while it was ok, I didn't love it like I do many of the other appetizers like the poke, dips, etc... But service wise, the waitress was nice and efficient, the hostess was very nice about getting us seated quickly despite a large group's stroller pileup at the front. Decor wise, yup, it's a Yard House. I'm pretty sure they all look the same, just locate the bar in different positions depending on the space.

What is there to say? It's a corporate sports bar. The food is so so, the service is average and the prices aren't cheap. It is a good place to host a larger event.

While Christmas shopping my wife and I decided to stop by the Yard House for lunch (and a beer or two). As usual, the place was crowded, but we were seated fairly quickly. We started off with the Spicy Tuna Roll and a pitcher of beer. We've had the roll before and knew that it was not a typical sushi roll. When our server placed the pitcher of beer and roll on the table I attacked the roll with the ferocity of a dingo and didn't hear the guy ask me how the food tasted. The rest of the food was just as good, I had the grilled scallops and my wife had the grilled chicken and avocado. Each time the server came to our table had made us laugh, which is always a good thing.

Nobody does Mac & cheese & Chicken Pot Pie better than the Yard house. Of course a tall spire of onion rings does the trick too. Always a stop on the food across Newport tour for me & my kids. Then again, there is nothing more satisfying than to text a picture of a meal at yard House to my sons sitting back home up to their elbows in snow in Omaha. The beer selection is outrageous, the service is always stellar and the wait staff is very tolerant of small children which is a big deal these days when we go with smaller diners. The casual atmosphere makes for a very relaxed experience and after a long day at the Long Beach Swap Meet the best part of the night is getting together at the Yard House. I highly recommend this place all the way from Omaha NE and it is too bad that corporate doesn't want o offer a location in the frozen snow covered plains...it would be a huge hit.

OK, time for a bit of trivia. Did you know they serve half-yards but no yards at the yard house?? What's the matter, afraid someone might actually pound 3 beers in less than 2 minutes?? OK, my bad. I can see how that could mess up the floors, lead to public drunkenness, projectile hurling, etc.. After dinner drinks with my lovely wife and we were, as always, treated exceptionally well here. Extensive beer list and signature cocktails, a nice heated patio and comfy chairs. I had the Snakebite, a 50-50 mixture of pear cider and Harp ale. Yummers. Sweet and sour. My wife had some type of vanilla martini with Kahlua and espresso. Simply delicious.

Disappointing food. I ordered the Chicken and Avocado Sandwich, $11.95. My wife ordered the Turkey Cobb Salad, $13.95. My sandwich lacked flavor and was too small for the price. My wife's salad contained only a small portion of turkey and the bacon was very greasy. The decor is inviting with many draft beers being served but the food appeared to have been prepared without much care or oversight and was over priced and disappointing. We may not return.

this is my place to go. i like the fact that it's just a really casual place to go. they're open until about 11 or so and their food is great. it's ok pricing and it's a really mellow place to go and catch up with friends. i've had all their sliders before. bernaise is my favorite and i love the crispy skinny fries that come with it. i've also had their calamari (fav), onion ring tower (absolute fav), margherita pizza (which was so so), chicken nachos (really good and it's a really big sized appetizer), penne with chicken (really good...sometimes a bit too creamy), garlic noodles (not one of my favorites. it was really really greasy), their souffles (all really good), ny steak salad is really good, spinach dip (good but the chips that come with it, not a fan of) and i think that's about it. i can't think of anything else at the moment. their happy hour is always good. select appetizers are half off. i like how they have good portions of everything. the only thing is service can be a little so so at times. especially if you're ordering to-go. they're packed when there's a lakers game on (well duh it's a sports bar) and their drinks are pretty good too.

As I write this I just found out that they are opening the first N. Cal location right here in San Jose...I am stoked! My first Yardhouse experience was in Newport Beach. I love their fish and chips. It's fun to see all the different beers they have on tap. The location is great, ambiance good, service good too. It's a fun place to visit, eat good food, and have a few drinks with friends.

Best HH in the Newport area. And by that I mean good eats for half price, and great beer selection. Too bad it ends at 6! If you stay for dinner, I'd recommend the Mac and Cheese, or Cheeseburger.

One thing can be said for this chain I was contacted by the corp. office regarding my review and my issues were taken seriously. Whenever guests come from out of town the Yardhouse is usually on the short list of places we take them to eat. The atmosphere is lively, the draft beer selection is extraordinary, and the food always seems to be above average. Out of the three Yardhouses around Irvine (Fashion Island, The Spectrum, and Triangle Square) this is my favorite. It is easier to get to and the parking is better than Triangle Square and there are far less kids and strollers than the Spectrum location. This place is a good gathering for large groups to the point where it is almost cliché. We all gathered here for my bachelor party a year ago and two of my friends asked "Where are we eating? The Yardhouse?" before I even told them. But that is another story... We went there last night since my Father-in-Law was in town from Alaska. The bar was packed as we watched the Lakers pummel the Celtics. We had to wait about 25 minutes for a table, which didn't seem too bad since we were able to stand at the bar, have some beers and watch the game. All the servers and hosts are very friendly 20-somethings and most asked how we were doing throughout the meal. I ordered the Surf and Turf Burger based on Cynthia A's recommendation. The optimist in me was hoping for a burger topped with a huge lobster tail. Well, that didn't happen, but there was an adequate amount of lobster, and the list price is $14.65 on the menu so you can't really complain. The fries were good. The beer was good. Overall this place gets a very strong "good" and really, I am having a difficult time thinking up a more appropriate adjective to describe the Yarhouse other than "good". We ordered 8 different beers (microbrews and Belgians ranging from $6-$7.25 a piece) and three burgers between the three of us and the bill was $98.04 + $20 tip for the attentive service. I felt that was a "good" deal. I do agree that they could turn the volume down a tad on the background music. If you are mid-sentence when the songs change from one to the next you realize that you are yelling at the person sitting 2 feet across the table from you. But this isn't a place for a nice romantic evening, it is a place to drink beer and have fun with a lot of friends, so I am not too mad at them for the music. This place never disappoints and I am sure I will be back when the next wave of family or friends come through for a "good" time.

Great for family. Hearty filling dishes with some hints of gourmet touches. The helpings are generous and fill up our boys while giving them slight hints of well seasoned foods. You just can not help but like all that is on the menu. We had dinner and the boys had burgers and meatloaf with blue cheese potatoes. The girls had salads and some roasted chicken with the same potatoes. Service is great with plenty of attention to properly serving the customers while using old serving manners. Ladies are served first and no cross over pouring of wine or waters to interrupt conversations. Thank you for that. Beer and wine menu is great and offers selection to fit meal selection. Only reason they do not get five stars is food came out with some delay. Try it is is worth stopping in for the Blue/Gorgonzola cheese potatoes alone.

Decent happy hour. Decent food. Won't rush back. Waitress was a little too full of herself. HINT- If you want a good tip don't forget you are in the customer service industry and need to be NICE. Ughh.

Hate to sound like an old fogy, but if you want to have a conversation while enjoying a meal at the Yard House in Fashion Island, sit on the patio. The high ceiling and music turned up too high is just distracting from the otherwise pretty good food and service. Also sadly, the servers are trained to be jokey and cutesy in their patter - which frankly just deters from the professionalism they otherwise display and the really good menu. I have friends who lovelovelove the San Jose location and they're not the most patient people in the world so maybe things are different in SoCal (ya think???) but still a chain is a chain and this one is now off my list. PS: The women's room was filthy - when we complained the hostess told us she'd already sent someone to clean it, hope that was true.

Went with a group of 15 people. We were seated within 5 minutes. Confusingly huge selection of beers on tap (supposedly the most in the world). I tried their house Belgian ale which was quite delicious despite being served in one of those silly chalices that Belgian ales come in. We got the truffle fries and ahi tuni as appetizers. The fries were skinny, crispy, and truffle-y, which the sushi grade ahi was a cooler dish prepared with avocado and edamame. For a main for I ordered the ribeye cooked medium rare, and that is exactly what I received. Switching the mashed potatoes for more truffle fries seemed to be a wise choice as well. Unless you are running a marathon directly after your meal,I highly recommend dining at this fine establishment.

10-22-13 Visit. Been a while since I patronized the good ole yard house.. Party of three, Myself, My friend and his son. seated, no prob, other than being taken all the way to the back corner of the restaurant when over half of the better tables were empty.. What was it? the 14yr old? the Two 40yr olds that weren't hipster enough to be in the in crowd? Ordered beers, Oktoberfest was out and the plain ole' Coors light was well over temperature for a bar known for the vast variety of tap beers. Food was pretty decent. One in party ordered a burger, one a rib eye, which had the best green beans ever as a side, and myself a cobb type turkey salad that was good, lighten up on dressing is all pls.. Truly other than being seated in north Dallas 40 in the back of the restaurant, the main problem was every time something came out, there was a different server, different ordering, different drink taker, different delivery different, different, different asking the same questions over and over. Just a bit frustrating. I would much prefer one server, that cares, remembers what you ordered, asked for etc. I Still like yard house, yet there are some nice looking places with some very nice grounds that are recent additions to the top floor triangle square that once get up and running well, might cause a prob for business. Peace

Late night happy hour starts at 10pm. Sometimes gets packed if there's a popular game on. The food is something they seem to tinker with all the time. Currently they have a selection of Kogi inspired tacos. Yawn. This place, despite all the beers and the sports on, (or maybe because of), has about 5 women for every guy in the place, it seems. Yardhouse might be a little played out, but food is usually delicious, service is fast and friendly, and the prices are okay.

It was my first time going to yard house! I was very pleased to how they accommodate like 45 people for my friend's 21st birthday! It was a really nice environment. We order before a lot of heir friends started to come and yet the food was taking really long. We only ordered nachos and it took them about 45 mins to serve it to us us! Anyways it's a big plus and nice how we had our own little mini section we also walked around to our tables and talk with each other and they were fine with that.(: the waitress was really nice and brought out the drinks right away. The nachos was good and it was such a big portion! My friend said their food was good too. Majority of them ordered the sliders. Ohhhhh, keep in mind no happy hour on Thursday! Great place for spending time with friends and celebrating a 21st birthday!!!!

I was getting together with a friend for her birthday. Actually, 20 of us were getting together. Anyways, she had made a reservation with a woman for the Costa Mesa Yard House, and when we showed up we were told the reservation was for this location. Well, the wait there was going to be a few hours so we made the trek over to this location as they held the table for us. When we walked in they apologized for the mix-up and were very attentive. As other locations I have been to the food is delicious and the drinks are wonderful. We were there during the NBA playoff games, so it was packed. There is a nice outside area and the beer is always a good choice! There are so many on tap and it is worth a try. The only difficult thing was choosing what beer to get and what food item I wanted. I wanted it all! To end on an interesting note, I suggest going to the bathrooms there. Wow! The faucets were awesome and it took me a minute to figure it out. The men's is the same; I know this because the guys came out talking about how awesome their bathroom was as well. Interesting that it came up in conversation at a restaurant, but cool nonetheless.

Great happy hours! I got a beer in those freaking BIG glass that they serve for about 9 bucks during happy hour. I also have had their shitake garlic noodle, which has really good flavorings and not dry or bland like most americanized places that have attempt to make good noodles, and I love the mushrooms in it. Their Moo Shu eggrolls, is basically chicken, chili cream cheese, carrots, green onions, cilantro and spinach served with apple ginger plum sauce. It tastes better than it sounds. I also got the hawaiian poke stack which is fresh marinated raw ahi stacked with crispy wontons, carrots, bean sprouts, avocado and wasabi soy sauce. My friend didn't like raw fish, so it was a plus for me to have this all to myself because it was a really good dish! All of these dishes are pretty awesome, and they're all on happy hour too! Pretty good place for me to come and chill after class at OCC.

I ate here with my family on a casual outing to Newport.... Great food, and the staff are very attentive and friendly. It's funny, they have "high end casual fare" all over this mall....but honestly, the Yardhouse fits the bill with great food, beer, and variety that is reasonably priced in a sea of pretentious restaurants encircling the rotundas in Fashion Island. So yes, eat at the "high end casual fare" (the valets' words, not mine) if you absolutely must be seen and watch the ferraris roll in...but if you've got an appetite, a small child, and you just want a good burger and watch the game in peace, do the Yard House.

GREAT BEER LIST OK I really like the selection of beer available at this place. Of course it's not the only thing this place has going for it. First off to have a bite at Fashion Island Newport Beach and to enjoy a decent meal not over priced with and selection of suds this place has to offer it does get my stamp of approval.. I have Been here a few times I think I have been to this location about 7 times now and the Irvine Spectrum location about 4 times. Like them both for different reasons but the Newport location is way more relaxed and not the loud party environment that the Irvine Spectrum is. The service was good. We sat out on the heated patio enjoyed a few beers and ordered. I got the turkey burger and yes it was very well done.. My other friends ordered the fish and chips and one of the pizzas both were very good.. potato string fries were a little cold but I didn't mind all that much. My only small gripe is they don't serve the full yard of beers there anymore.. with a name like the Yard House you would think they wouldn't break tradition and stop serving beer in the yard sized glasses. All in all good place to go family friendly and food is pretty good not the most unique experience in the world but it's totally safe and you won't go wrong with most items on the menu...

OMG! The food at the Yardhouse in Fashion Island is terrible! It tastes like it's loaded with lard plus whatever else -- which cannot be good for you. Pass by the Yard House and go across the street to True Food. Instead of feeling loaded with lard, you'll have an enjoyable "true food" experience. And... you'll add a few more days to your life.

I love Yard House's happy hour, and as a lover of all good beer, I think they have the best happy hour all around. However, this particular Newport/Fashion Island restaurant just couldn't live up to par of all the other ones I've had - Costa Mesa and Irvine Spectrum. We ordered the Jamaican wings and classic sliders, along with a side of fries. The wings came out burnt and extremely dry. Plus they were on the small side in regards to size. The sauce the wings came with was a little on the sour side and tasted different than usual (I asked for the sauce on the side). The classic sliders were good - juicy patty and soft bread. The fries were the best part of the meal. Shoestring fries, cripsy but not greasy, awesome! Their house hef is my favorite. Get it with a slice of orange, not lemon, your beer will taste a little sweeter.

I've had delicious dining out experiences since I've moved to Orange County, and the Yard House did not disappoint. We got here early on a Saturday evening and walked right to our table. YH has a ton of drink options; I went for the framboise lambic. The menu is huge, so you should find something you like. I had the turkey burger which was a bit different as it was made with carrots and mozzerella cheese. It came with shoestring fries which were ok; I still would get the TB as it was delish! My friends had the chicken sandwich (no bun), hamburger (no bun and veggies) and the ahi tuna and wedge salad appetizer selections. Everything came out as expected. Fresh and tasty! We skipped desserts but I'm sure those were good too. If you can find a YH in your area, since they are a chain, definitely go there! You won't be disappointed :)

I have an obsession with truffle so the truffle bacon mac'n cheese is the only reason this review isnt a 3. The macncheese was good. Not amazing but good because of the truffle oil. I wish it was cheesier and gooey-er but it was more of a dry cheese type macaroni. I think it was $16. "Ehh" sums up my experience

Pretty Good Happy Hours..Great Sliders! If this rating was only on the sliders, during happy hour, I would give it four stars. I think the sliders here are great, especially if you are craving burger. The staff is always friendly. The crowd is ok. I absolutely do not like to come here if it's not happy hour. In the past I thought it was over priced for the food and quality of drinks. Happy hour makes this place a deal with its specials and sliders. I do prefer the happy hour over at the Long Beach location as it is on the water. Nicer view.

After hearing so many good things about the Yard House over the years, my boyfriend and I decided to give it a shot. The menu looked great - tons of beers, an assortment of gourmet burgers, and all sorts of appetizer options. My boyfriend ordered the Bearnaise burger with a Shock Top, and I ordered the BBQ Bacon and Cheddar burger with a soda. Here's where the experience started to go downhill. The beer arrived quickly, but my soda never showed. The server went off and stood in a corner watching one of the TVs and paid no attention to us for quite a while. I was so thirsty! We didn't even have water. Finally, I flagged down a bus boy and asked him to get me a soda. It eventually got there, right when I was starting to doubt that it would EVER show up. When the burgers arrived, I dug in eagerly. The burger was just OK. The bacon was in small supply, and overdone to boot. The burger also tasted overcooked, definitely not medium rare like I'd ordered. It was unexceptional and kind of disappointing. My boyfriend ate his burger but also mentioned that it was overdone and didn't really have the bearnaise flavor he was expecting. Service continued to be pretty terrible for the remainder of the meal. We left, disappointed, having spent a hefty chunk of change for just an OK burger.

Very good, very fresh food. The main problem that I found at this place was making a choice. There are about two too many of each category which sometimes complicates the whole process of picking your entree. However, once chosen, the main item that I enjoyed for dinner as well as a number of appetizers were really quite good. I had a Thai Noodle Salad with grilled chicken. It was excellent and probably could have used a few more noodles but it was very spicy, very full of flavor and one of the better versions of a spicy Thai noodle salad that I have had. The coconut shrimp were excellent as was the "very uniquely presented--my words" California Roll. It was huge and had all of the requisite components but rather than wrapped up in rice the ingredients were piled on top on one another with the rice being the largest part of the "roll." There was just enough wasabi integrated as well as soy sauce and pickled ginger. I would recommend trying this one just because it is so different but in no way compromises the real thing in terms of taste. Other appetizers were decent too and included hummus with pita bread and spinach artichoke dip. If you do no know what you want, this is a great place to go. They also have really tasty burgers and some of the best seafood in the area. The only downside is that you might need to allow some extra time, just to decide!

I know the wait time can be awful, but their filet mignon with shrimp is the bomb! It's very filling and tasty. I would dine there every night, if i could afford to. the staff are pleasant. i just wish the wait time was shorter.

So I finally stopped by Yard House to see what all the fuss was about. I mean everyone that I know raves about the greatness of Yard House, especially for happy hour. We barely made the happy hour =) so we ordered up a feast. I'm not sure if its because of what we ordered, but it wasn't that great compared to what I've heard. Most of their apps for half off as well as their house margaritas and some beer (sorry not a beer drinker so I wasn't really paying attention). We ordered mooshoo eggrolls, chicken lettuce wraps, california roll, spinach cheese dip for apps and the jambalaya over rice for our entree. The entrees were huge, I assumed so because the prices were a little bit pricier here. The only thing that I really liked out of the apps we got were the chicken lettuce wraps and the spinach cheese dips. The spinach was abundant and the chips that came along with them were HUGE. The chicken lettuce wraps came with three different sauces to choose from so that was good, i like variety. The california roll was interesting, I would not order it again. Basically it is just a huge, big rice splattered with what you would expect to find on a regular california roll. The mooshoo eggrolls had too much mayo and it was not how I had imagined mooshoo eggrolls were (I don't know what I was thinking .. thinking that it was going to be like the ones you would expect to get at a chinese restaurant). The Jambalaya was good. I liked how they had bits and pieces of seafood in it as well as two jumbo grilled shrimp on top. Not the best jambalaya I've had, but it was better than half of the apps we ordered. boo. I was sick so didn't get a chance to drink up, but def planning on coming back for some dranks next time.

First off, my review is solely for the late Happy Hour. You would think Yard House restaurants would be practically uniform, and generally they are, but when it comes to the quality of food, this establishment seems to be lacking. I am comparing this place to 3 other Yard House locations I have been to; Pasadena, Costa Mesa, and Irvine Spectrum. Drinks: Huge selection to choose from and prices are rather fair at about 4-6 bucks a pint. You have options from all over the world and can even see the kegs in their storage room. The servers are also helpful with selecting a brew for your liking. Service: Been here 20+ times in a 3 year period and every single the time the service has been great. The servers are courteous, helpful, and patient with your orders. They are always prompt with your requests and often swing by making sure you have everything you need. Atmosphere: The restaurant is spacious and bright during the day. However at night, the lighting is rather dim and makes it hard to see. I enjoy their music selection here, but others may not. To each their own I suppose. Depending on the crowd, it may be difficult to hear your compatriots across the table without speaking loudly. Food: This is the part where I found them lacking the most. The items affected are the buffalo wings, chicken nachos, sliders, and chicken tenders. First off, the wings are a hit or miss most of the time. Sometimes they taste very moist and tender, other times dry and overcooked. The sliders (classic and bernaise) I find often to be extremely greasy (though some may argue that makes them more delicious). The chicken tenders are always overly greasy and salty to the point it is difficult to eat them. They feel over breaded and the excess oil is just too much to enjoy the chicken itself. As for the chicken nachos, I can barely find any chicken in my dish. Compared to the amount of chicken I've received at other Yard House location's chicken nachos, this place seems to skimp on the chicken and other goodies. I often find naked chips without sufficient cheese or sauce to dip in. I would normally give Yard House 4 stars for their combination of great service, atmosphere, beer selection, and food. (-1 star for the value, rather expensive for the food you get) I had to subtract another star on this location as their food seems to not compare as well to the other locations I've been to.

Once again, Sloth and Gluttony got the better of me as the girlfriend and I decided to head for the Newport Yardhouse instead of the usual Spectrum Yardhouse. Like virtually everybody else who comes to Yardhouse, I go for the happy hour. I rationalized my two deadly sins by telling myself that there's no way the Newport crowd would settle for anything less than that offered at the Spectrum location, so how bad could it be? Unfortunately, this Yardhouse location has provided me with nothing else than a base of comparison that showed me just how much better the Spectrum Yardhouse is. Walked in at 9:45PM for the 10PM Happy Hour. I told the waiter this, but still put in an order of truffle fries to keep him interested in us. Having just finished Tony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential, I watched my server's body language instead of my menu as I communicated with him, and as soon as I mentioned the fifteen minutes we planned on waiting, he checked out. Didn't write down my order of fries, and walked away. Fine with me, to be honest, at least he made no qualms about providing shitty service. Like everybody has already mentioned, beer selection is mediocre by comparison to the Spectrum location. If you're a CMB person, then you don't care about this, but one of the fun things about Yardhouse is pairing your beer with your meal, and that's made much more difficult if they offer a glorified D&B's selection. Another waiter comes along at 9:56PM and graciously takes our Happy Hour order. Girlfriend got her usual pear cider, which we both swore to the gods was club soda and syrup. My Old Speckled Hen tasted like the pub ale it should have. We ordered the Bearnaise sliders, nachos, Thai chicken pizza, and crab cakes. The Yardhouse food quality seemed pretty much the same all around, which is good; I like dependability. Unfortunately, the food came out about 30 minutes after we ordered it, and the waiter forgot to put in our crab cake order, even though he repeated it back to us when we ordered it. Those truffle fries, needless to say, never came. Our frustration curbed only by our satisfied appetites, we asked for the bill so we could get home before midnight. Fifteen minutes later, I found myself tracking down the bartender in lieu of our magic disappearing waiter to finally settle up. By saving ourselves an eight minute drive down to Spectrum, we ended up spending two and a half hours at Yarhouse, the majority of that time spent waiting for somebody to pick up the ball and run the restaurant. Finally got home at the stroke of midnight, full of greasy food and Wrath. Kevin Spacey was right--people should be punished for their sins. I sure was.

I have only been to two locations and they were both awesome. The vibe is chilled and relaxed. The happy hour offers amazing deals on drinks and beer. The appetizers are also half priced as well. As far as I can tell, the whole restaurant was the bar so you didn't need to sit in a special area to get the lower pricing. I always get the Chicken Caesar Salad with blackened chicken. The chicken is on the spicier side but when mixed with the coolness of the romaine lettuce and dressing, it's enjoyable. I wasn't drinking tonight so I got a coke and the waitress never let my glass get under half before coming back with a refill. We are creatures of habit I guess since both times my boyfriend got the grilled cheese sandwich that comes with tomato bisque soup. I have tried the sandwich dipped in the soup and it was amazing. No wonder he always orders it. He never just orders soup and a sandwich so I knew there must have been something special about this one. He had ordered a beer and whenever he finished one the waitress was right there asking if he wanted another one. We've had the mini desert and it was really good. It was a mini cobbler of some sort, I want to say it was peach but it also could have been apple. I think the next time I go I'm going to order something different because all my coworkers rave about different dishes on the menu.

I've been coming to Yard House ever since I moved to OC but this was the first time I've dined at the Newport Beach outpost. The location is great because it's right near the parking structure so there is not much of a walk (yes, you get spoiled in LA). When you come during popular dining times, there might be a wait for a table but this is always a great chance to order some drinks at the bar. I I love that they have an eclectic mix of beers and ciders on tap at this bar because I have so much to choose from that suits my taste. I highly recommend the Black Velvet and if you like sweet stuff over beer like I do, you won't go wrong with the Timmerman's Strawberry. If you choose to dine al fresco and they have plenty of heat lamps outside to keep diners warm during those cool California nights. Even if you sit outside in the far corner, as we did, we weren't neglected and our waiter, Matthew, was friendly and very attentive. They have tons of good food to order from but two of my favorites I always go back to are the Truffle Mac n Cheese with Grilled Chicken and the Country Fried Chicken Breasts. Small side salads are also great options that come with the entrees. It's also large enough for two people to share. What makes Yard House unique is that while it is a sports bar with tons of drink selections, it's also a really tasty family restaurant. The food is more than just pub grub and rivals that of some restaurants out there. I love it's casual dining environment and that it's always a great place to meet friends for a drink.

Horrible! They placed us by kitchen, out of all tables. Manager apologized. Took our info to comp a free meal. Never received anything in mail. Called them back twice. They claim manager I spoke with doesn't exist ( tall blonde haired man) and won't handle situation. Oh and if you ask for no cheese..they will send it back, scrape it off and bring it back. Cheap idiots!

Been here many times. Last week discovered that both times I'd been there in those past two weeks, after they'd taken my Amex and "run the card" to run my tab, I had fraudulent activity on my Amex. They didn't return my card until I asked for it and only later did I discover that both times I visited their bar in Shoreline Village, just hours later someone tried to use my Amex to buy merchandise in other cities and even countries. When I talked to the District Supervisor, she was rude, disrespectful and would not ever consider that one of her employees was taking the data from my card and using it, or selling it. I called the police and Amex and they are on to Yard House. It's a real pity. Their beers are great, but the food is ok. I'll NEVER go back. If they'd just been prudent and taken things a bit more seriously, maybe I'd consider going back. Not now.

After a day of shopping with my girls, we needed something to give us back the energy we had spent walking around the mall. We weren't looking for anything too heavy, but we wanted a lot of choices. Upon recomendation, we came here. This place is cute and cozy. Definitely a place to kick it with the girls - or guys, or a nice spot to take a friend or special someone for a bite. It sits on the third floor of the complex and over looks the streets. Perfect since Cali weather is year-long gorgeous. I had heard that we got lucky and beat the usual rush that usually commences around dinner time and got a booth near the front. Our server was super friendly and even the manager came by to talk for a bit (super cute w/an accent). Atmosphere was casual. Our orders and drinks got taken down very quickly and we didn't wait long before they came out. We had the Margarita Pizza, Spinach Dip, and I had a cup of their Clam Chowder (i was feeling a bit under the weather) lol. The pizza was amazing. A light thin crust covered in cheese with HUGE slices of tomato and chunks of garlic. The tomatoes were exceptionally juicy and the pizza was not greasy we didn't feel guilty each taking more than one slice. Crust, although thin, was not hard and crunchy. It was soft with a light crispy top layer. The spinach dip was definitely different than most others I've tried. They didn't serve regular chips, but rather a more crispy flat bread. I don't know how else to describe it but they were huge and good. Now onto the dip. Most spinach dips i've had focus more on the pasty cream that their based in, but this one, actually had SPINACH in it. Like...a LOT. I'd say 70 percent of it was spinach. Which made me feel better eating it. It was delish. The cup of clam chowder filled me up. I thought it wouldn't but it did. Every bite was a scrumptious creamy haven of warmth drowning chunks of clam and scallops. It was so good. I know it's not a northern/eastern clam chowder, but in my opinion, the west coast definitely can compete. Overall the experience was delightful. There's a bar in the center of the restaurant and TVs all around the place. Perfect for watching a sports game or grabbing a drink. Had the pleasure of trying the cider here (yes yes I know, weak sauce but whatev) it was great. :) Just like a carbonated soda. There selection of whine is huge, and i'm pretty sure the bar is full. Menu is filled with TONS of stuff so if you want to go all out, by all means, come here for that as well.

3 stars for the good friendly service, the nice decor and the fact that happy hour is amazing. We got there at 5 and ordered sliders, boneless buffalo chicken, spicy thai pizza, and spinach and cheese dip. The Spicy thai pizza was very oily and most importantly, it wasn't even spicy! I remember it being really good! =/ The boneless buffalo chicken was too chicken-y if they makes any sense. It comes with a side of ranch and about 15 pieces of chicken similar to chicken nuggets. It was really salty and there were only 4 celery sticks to neutralize the saltiness. The sliders were probably the best. There were 4 mini burgers with cheese, and a side of fries and two slices of pickles. The spinanch and cheese dip was not gooey and cheesy like other places, it was mostly spinanch clumps and bits of cheese here and there. Overall, we didn't enjoy the food that much. But the price was good, the 4 things + lemonade turned out to be $29 something.

I was oblivious The Yard House was named the Yard House because the servers don't come within a Yard of your table. Maybe we smelled like onions? #Who knows But between having 3 different servers in one sitting, we were able to order some food & real craft beer. The french fries came out cold, but luckily I don't have expectations at chain restaurants.

Yard house has always been a fav particularly for happy hours. They have a great selection of beers (touting the largest selection of draft beers) as well as very reasonably priced appetizer specials. The best part is the happy hour menu's varied. You can get a tower of onion rings, calamari, regular sliders or bernaise sliders, regular wings or Jamaican jerk wings, ahi poke stack, seared ahi tuna, etc.-there's something for everyone. I came here for lunch one day since I had a gift certificate. I wanted something relatively cheap for lunch, but filling. My eyes settled immediately on the surf and turf burger - swiss cheese, grilled asparagus, whole lobster meat - hello! For only $14.99. Sweet. My waiter was pretty nice. He was quick, asked me how my meal was, if I needed anything, and came at the right time for the water refill. I'd say on the scale of 1-10, 1 being robotic and distant and 10 being super friendly and personable, I'd give him a 7. Now the burger. I'm not the biggest burger fanatic.. I just can't get over how most burger patties don't usually pack much flavor..but this really seemed like a decent burger to me. When I was cutting it in half, lots of juice was seeping out, good sign. They weren't skimpy on the lobster meat either, which was lobster claw and arm meat. Plenty of skinny grilled asparagus that covered the entire burger, and melted stretchy swiss cheese. It tasted wonderful, juicy and hot. Came w/skinny fries too, my fav! No complaints about my meal. This was the same type of burger I ordered at Burger Bar in Vegas, but way cheaper, and to be honest w/u, I don't really remember how the Burger Bar version tastes like, so this $15 version is ok w/me! I'd def get it again. If I had one complaint though about Yardhouse.. and I've felt this way more than a few times at different locations.. they really gotta lower their background music, it's way too loud... even on a quiet thurs afternoon with just a few ppl hanging out, do you really have to blast it? it's worse when its Friday happy hour and there's tons of people yelling over themselves and the loud music.. we're here to talk to each other people, please lower the music down so we can!

Pricey, very but good. The noise level in the open dining area was a bit loud. Food was tasty. Good for a business meeting if the atmosphere was needed, just ask for a more quiet table area.

Love this place. Especially the Fashion island one as you can eat in the patio. Every time i eat here i tried different dishes, all good! Cuban sandwich is amazing, Porcini crusted halibut with asparagus is off the hook, mac & cheese is great... I dont even have words to describe Surf & Turf burger (always ask medium or medium rare if you like it a little bloody as they try to cook it more) If you are a fan of Belgium beers try them all, matilda and reverend are my favorites... One more thing; their chicken tortilla soup is amazing...

This is a total winner. Steele Platt founded this chain a few years ago and it's grown to 39 strong. The food, drinks and service is always outstanding. Give it a try, you can't go wrong. Have your cake and eat it too! 5 Stars!

I've been to Fashion Island Yard House several times in the past few months (I have a gift card from Yard House's support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Orange County) and the food has been outstanding! Service great, with one exception. Great fresh fish and now street tacos that are awesome. Kudos Yard House ! If they had consistent great service and had the sound on for key games, it would be 5 stars for sure.

Stayed at the Marriott in Newport, walked over to this place, pretty good, ordered the spicy tuna roll, which came kind of odd, spicy and yummy thou and the mac n cheese, we split both and still walked away with enough for two more meals. Ordered the beer samples of the day, and one was bud lite, WTF, they have over 70 beers on tap?? Come on people, bud lite really??? Overall good food, music, people watching and excellent service.

I've only been here twice. Both times in groups. In short this place is like a more sophisticated B.J.'s. They have a variety of foods. The first time I went I had a California Roll. which was especially interesting. It was pretty much a gigantic roll which I had to dissect in order to eat. And the second time I shared a Hawaiian pizza with a friend. Both were good, but aside from the uniqueness of their sushi rolls there's not much that separates them from B.J.'s Brewhouse. Overall, this place is good if you're trying to catch the game or looking to grab some food before a night out on the town.

When the Yard House first opened in Long Beach (I think?), I loved the place. Seeing all those taps was eye opening. But over the years I fell out of love with the place, as it started to resemble all other chain-style restaurants. So I avoided it for a long time. Then I went shopping at Fashion Island recently and decided to try Yard House again (mainly because of the great happy hour specials). I had a blast there with my friends. The staff was friendly and observant. The beer was good and cheap. The food was better and cheaper... I will definitely start coming here again, with one caveat...only for Happy Hour!

Best time to come is during their Happy Hour. My co-worker and I used to be regulars here a couple of years ago (we work at the LensCrafters next door) for whenever we felt like pigging out. Now, I am a vegetarian, so my selections were limited at the time. Other than the Mediterranean vegetable sandwich, grilled cheese and organic tomato bisque, and margherita pizza as entrees I could order... well, that was all I could order at the time. So you can imagine I was ordering the same thing every time. They did have a suggestion card that we used to fill out every time and every time I would always put, "Need more vegetarian dishes, thaaaanks!" I think it was last year they rolled out the Gardein menu for vegetarians. Even though we're still regular for Happy Hour, I still haven't gotten the courage to order from that menu... mainly because of the price. Still, at least I have the option to order a variety of veg dishes.

I generally come here for the happy hour. This place has my favorite beer, Hoegaarden..... on tap! The best beer in the world on tap. What more could you ask for. They do have like 60 or 70 other types of beers on taps for the weirdos who don't like the taste of Hoegaarden, but seriously how can you not order that? Anyways, back to happy hour. Don't worry young people, for select food items are cut in price as well, so while your older friends enjoy a beer from their very large selection of domestic and import tap beer, you can eat some decent food at decent prices. Service is pretty good, and the environment is very clean. I've never came here for dinner, so this review is based on more of their lunch/ happy hour time. I'm sure their dinner is tasty as well, though it seems to be on the higher end of my price range (I'm a broke college student... anything more than $10 is too much on a single meal...even $10 is a alot for a single meal...) But I really do recommend the happy hour, especially when basketball season starts since there are T.V.s near the bar area... cannot wait until the Lakers dominate... but yeah go for happy hour! If you like beer and decently priced foods then this is the place for you! Edit: Dropped a star because the service has been sub par the last few times I came here.

Good Service for Groups Usually I don't rate too many chains because, well, they're usally run-of-the-mill chains. I have to give this one a four star for their service. Yes, I did read the previous reviews and sorry to hear they are a pain when it comes to carding people. This last week, my company reserved the outdoor patio for a group of 30 people- all japanese businessmen to be exact. Image one long table of blue-suited japanese business men who speak very little english and expect a high level of service.... The drink orders were placed & delivered quickly, followed by several selections of appetizers, including coconut shrimp, stack of onion rings (surprisingly yummy!) spinach flatbread, and spring rolls. We had a pre-selected menu for the salads, entree's and dessert, so the process was reletively painful. Except to match up the "medium" "medium-rare" and "rare" prime rib to the rightful owners. The outdoor patio was perfect for our group- not nearly as noisy as the indoor seating area. We could actually hear each other halfway down the table. Beer Selection-- If you're coming to the Yard House, what else do you expect? Apparently, there is some variation in the offerings at each location. I tried to order a round of Piraat (Belgian beer that will kick you in the butt!) but, they don't carry it at Fashion Island. So we went with a Chimay double. Overall, not bad for a brewery-- here you'll find something you enjoy.

Excellent beer selection! As much as I try not to go to chains...I just can't help myself on this one. Sit at the bar...service is always excellent. Get the classic sliders. Delish!

After I left a negative review about The Yard House in Newport Beach, I was contacted by both management and corporate. I won't get into any details about what corporate did to make things better but they really went above and beyond for my wife and I. Since I reviewed this restaurant, we went to a different location and had a great experience!

My friend and I stopped at Yard House for lunch while we were doing some shopping. The hosts/hostesses and our waiter were very nice and friendly, and the atmosphere is great! I ordered the Caeser appetizer salad and my friend ordered the Summer appetizer salad. The salads were a good size and they were both under $10 (I think mine was $6.95).They were both great--I loved whatever they did to the parmesan cheese on my salad. My friend's salad looked delicious--I will definitely be trying that next time I'm at Yard House. We ordered the hummus "snack" as an appetizer, and unfortunately it didn't make it out to us until after we had received our salads. The waitress was so nice and apologetic about it that it didn't even phase us. The hummus and flatbread was good, but nothing special. Overall, we had a great lunch, and this seems like it would be a fun place to hang out on a weekend night.

Great beer selection! We've never waited for a table or spot at the bar. The only food item I've had here is the grilled artichoke appetizer and it is incredible. I refuse to share it with anyone! It's incredibly noisy (I guess it is more if a bar than a restaurant) and if you park on the opposite side if fashion island, it can be really hard to find.

The Hawaiian Burger was one of the best I've ever had. With all the beer choices, its a beer drinkers paradise. The waitress made it memorable. I would like to see a Yard House offered in the Bay Area. I believe it would be very successful. I make sure to stop here at least once when I visit SoCal..

Honestly, the food here was pretty good. However, even after eating my own meal and some of my friend's girlfriend's fries, I was still hungry. I ordered the Orzo Scallops and I was actually fairly pleased with what I received. These weren't the best scallops that I've ever had, but they were still delicious. The sun dried tomato pesto was quite nice and lent a nice flavor to the mushrooms. Unfortunately, it was all just way too small. I felt like I definitely didn't get a whole meal's worth and I'm not a HUGE eater. My friends all ordered sandwiches and theirs looked like a more substantial meal (sandwich cut in half with a side). The shoestring fries were delicious. If I end up coming back here, perhaps I'll order an appetizer.

Seriously, after being to so many different happy hour places, i must say Yardhouse has one of the best happy hour menus! Nice place to head to after a good day of hiking around newport. My favorites are: Seared Ahi Tuna (comes with 6 thick slices) and their special sauce Firecracker wings BÉARNAISE Sliders Definitely come here for happy hour which ends at 6:30 m-f and late night Sunday - Wednesday 10 - close.

Unfortunately, this review cannot start with an accurate description of glorious happy hour as this reviewer is under 21 and innocently sober. However, I would be glad to gloat about the gloriousness that is Yard House food! I was divinely guided here after True Food Kitchen slapped me in the face w/ a 70 minute long wait for Saturday dinner at 8. Though the Yard House menu seemed massive, their choices were surprisingly healthy and tasty-sounding; and so Yard House greeted me and my dad with open arms (more literally, an open booth). Friendly, open and stylish ambiance, classic rock hits filling the room...first impressions were spot-on! Again, let me emphasize that this place breaks the curse of the huge menu...the chicken I had was cooked to absolute perfection! Then we get to the FOOD. I got two words for ya: Maui. Chicken. The poultry is glazed with a brown sugar, soy sauce, ginger marinade, and stir-fried veggies and a pile of either jasmine or brown rice (see that healthy alternative? bonus points!) bring the finishing touches to this wonderful dish. Tasty, healthy, tasty. Awesome. Just plain awesome. The only downside was that I had ordered brown rice and got the jasmine instead. But I wasn't about to let the whole order go to waste just because of my health-freakishness moment. Side note: I honestly have had chicken dishes at "fine dining establishments" that weren't cooked as flawlessly as this one. Yard House says "I am a restaurant that can serve five star food and beer at the same time, nyah, nyah!!!" This place has something for everyone...the adults who wanna get their social on, and the families who want a wide variety at a pretty decent price at a casual restaurant.

Love these places almost anywhere I go....great spot for a client lunch. This is located in Fashion Island, and we were immediately seated when we arrived around noon. Outstanding service from Alison who was quick with drinks and food. Menu is mainly bar food, but they do have a nice selection of priced fixed lunches. Lots of tvs with all the sporting channel on, and an interesting crowd of suits from Pimco and Pac Life, and ladies out shopping. I had the roast beef dip and it is excellent, Paul had the chicken Caesar which he enjoyed and our guest had the Ahi Crunchy (he loved it). Everyone who works in the place is fast, friendly and efficient. I would return any time I am back! Diet Coke 2.95 Sprite 2.95 Arnold Palmer 3.45 Small Chicken Tortilla Soup 5.25 Chicken Caesar 12.55 Roast Beef Dip 11.65 Ahi Crunchy 14.95 Total - $58.46

I find myself here with friends often because it is a good place for happy hour and I have been coming here for about 8 years...since college- I feel old! The food is safe (not the best food, but decent and varied selections) and it is a fun place to hang out for a beer or martini. Wine selection isn't great at all. Lots of beer though and fun martinis. Happy hour is good. 6.25 for martinis and around 3 dollars for a beer. Select appetizers are half off. I recommend the California roll, lettuce wraps and spinach dip. Yum.

This probably only applies because I went for happy hour, but man was it a great deal. Everything was under 7 bucks. I went here with a friend and sister and for 6 things we were dying from food comma for 35 bucks. Onion rings were good, but a little greasy. The garlic noodles were kinda bland but okay. The thai style pizza was great though like the chicken strips and wings were delicious. Would come again for happy hour.

Great prices on food. The happy hour prices on beer are lacking. $1 off is not a happy hour price.

My dream for the perfect bar/restaurant. If only it was less expensive or they expanded their happy hour times. Great food and an EXTENSIVE beer menu. What more can you ask for. I wish they had a location in Huntington Beach.

There are some instances where I wish I had never worked in the restaurant industry. I think if I had never had that experience I wouldn't be so critical of chains. If you're not a beer drinker then you shouldn't go to Yard House. I wouldn't come here just for the food or even the ambiance. The outdoor patio is tiny, maybe 5 tables and they're two-tops so a large group or a regular group would dominate the area making navigation problematic. The bartenders were cool as they should be. This is a bar first and a restaurant second. Always keep that in mind. If you're looking for a gastronomical adventure, venture further north to LA. Get with the program...

Came here for happy hour. Nice selection of drinks and finger food. The places is big and spacious with outdoor seating. Perfect for happy hour gatherings. I didnt try their dinner entrees there giving it an OK review.

A strong 3.5 stars. Come here for the beer, over 180 on tap and it makes it worth the stop. Food is a little pricey but ok for Newport Beach. We had the roast beef dip and BBQ pizza and both were better than average. Again, it's all about the beer and it's all good.

The food is good, great selection of beer, nice happy hour prices, awesome location, I love watching sports here. That's the quick list of why I especially like this Yard House. The one at the Spectrum and Triangle Square are nice too, sure, but this is my favorite. The atmosphere is nicer than Costa Mesa and it's less crowded than Irvine. I usually try to go for Happy Hour during the weekdays: 3-6pm. An early dinner isn't too bad most of the time. The pizzas are half off during this time and I always get the mushroom and pepperoni or the california roll Tip: the california roll isn't what you're thinking. It's like a bunch of california roll ingredients that they just piled up together... but it's surprisingly good. Also, I tend to only drink hefeweizen or some other wheat beer so it's nice that this place has such a large selection. I've become a big fan of Blue Hawaiian Hef and I don't think I've seen it anywhere else. To end the meal, I try to make room for their creme brulee. I didn't expect a place like this to make it that well, but I was wrong...boooomb.

With all the great reviews we decided to try this place for my birthday, well big mistake. We check in at the front desk and they seem to have lost our reservation, minus one star, they sit us on a floor table with heavy traffic minus another star, it took the server about 10 minutes to even greet us or ask for our drink order, minus another star. When we finally get our appetizers, our pizza order takes forever to arrive and all they said is "sorry it took so long", our drink refill doesn't get to us till after we are done eating. The food is nothing to brag about, I'd rather go to BJs and get a better pizza. I don't think I'll be coming back to this place and I don't recommend at all.

Again, I'm a HUGE happy hour fanatic! My colleagues and I always are coming here after work for happy hour and Yard House never fails me. I love the Tuna tartar and the Young Berry Chocolates! The mixture can never go wrong. I like my young berry chocolates more like a cocktail rather than a beer, so I ask the bartender to add my fambroise. It's soooo good and inexpensive! and the service isn't half bad either. Although, it's super crowded on game days, it's the atmosphere i like to be in watching games.

Been going to most So Cal Yardhouse's since I turned 21. Beer selection is amazing , but I wish they didn't take off certain beers off of rotation. The food is always good there. Picky eaters don't come here and complain that the food isn't good. Food is good. Drinks are good. They have many special drinks they make. Happy Hours is always good and affordable there. I can still spend over 60 bucks during happy hours but we order over 5 dishes of food and average about 4 or more drinks so thats a really good deal! I like this location because its at Fashion Island its an outdoor mall. The workers there are very friendly and they never hesitate to ask you if you need anything else. If you need or want something just ask, they don't bite. Make sure to try out their Pineapple Express drink. Lets just say I hate mojito's and anything that consists of mint leaves in the drink but I love that drink. If you go to the Yardhouse in Irvine they have the biggest bar out of all the Yardhouse's I've been to in So Cal. Of course if you want to check out the first Yardhouse, go to the one at the Pike in Long Beach. Sometimes when I visit this specific one, I'll be here earlier in the day and maybe a few hours later I will go back for more drinks and food.

My boyfriend and I went to Yardhouse for Happy Hour on July 6, 2010. We were pleasantly greeted by the hostess and we were seated in Denise's section. The service was spectacular! We had Denise as our server and she was such a great server! Yardhouse has one of the best happy hours - the appetizers are 1/2 off and the house martini's were only $6. We ordered chicken strips, spinach and artichoke dip, and Jamaican wings. I had two pomegranate martini's. Our total bill was only $29.00 and we left there very satisfied. It was my boyfriend's birthday and Denise brought out a complimentary apple cobbler. I'd definitely recommend this location.

I've only been there a few times, but I have to say, I find myself craving their vegetarian menu. I like that they are conforming to the popularity of this market. It's hard for me to find good food that I can actually eat, and at the Yard House, I know I will have many options without worrying about feeling left out. The only negative thing that I have to say is the crowd that's there can be a bit obnoxious (typical Newport Beach girls and guys) and sometimes it feels a bit too trendy - which are generally the places that I avoid at all costs. I guess it's something I'm willing to look past due to their amazing vegetarian menu.

The food was good, but my god, was the service horrible! Jason could not have cared less about anything having to do with us, our food, our beer, or our experience. One beer was all I got, ten minutes after I ordered it, served by someone else and missing the top two inches. My food came on the fourth bite of my salad and it took me going to the bar to get ketchup for my fries. I believe in overtipping which is why I still left 15%, but I feel taking advantage of. Shame on the Yard House!!!

Typically, reviewing chain restaurants/establishments is not my cup of tea. Everything has been said and you more or less get the same product at every location, but I just wanted to compliment this Yard House on being a great place for Happy Hour. My friends and I make sometimes weekly trips to this yard house since its ridiculously cheap and close to us for happy hour. $4 a pint and half off full-sized appetizer plates? The beer gods were smiling upon us when we discovered Yard House's happy hour (3-6 in the middle of the day and 10-close Sun-Wed). Plus, the service here is really great and responsive. As semi-beer novices, we've asked our servers for suggestions and they have almost always been on the money, quenching our thirsts and widening our beer palette at the same time. The first time I tasted two of my favorite beers (the Sunset Wheat and Blue Hawaiian Hef) was here, at the suggestion of our server, of course. Great beer, food, and service. Sounds like a winning combo. And it is, here at Yard House.

Bad Customer Service, We asked for a Drink Bacardi Limon and the Waiter right away said oh we do not have that. We asked him to ask about it he came back and said they did have it. When we tasted it, it was Captain Morgan! We talked to the Bar Tender who said no we do not have it. We told the Waiter that said oh I thought you said Bacardi Mellon. I did not understand your pronouciation. I my opinion this Waiter lacked common sense. We did not say anything else to him. He served us and then brought us the bill without asking us if we wanted Desert. The food was good.

Yard House is located in Triangle Square in Costa Mesa, and is basically the last tenant standing at this failed center so parking, albeit underground, is ample for easy in and easy out access. Yard House has one of those menus that has almost anything on it, and most of the menu items are quite tasty and healthy. The beer selections are mind boggling as they have an array of on tap and bottled selections. There are lots of TV's, primarily with sporting events on and the booths are very big and roomy. Although I have not been here for happy hour the menu board that I read on the table was actually really good and the next time I go to YH I will go at happy hour between 4 and 7pm. Ample servers to wait on you, plenty of noise so a great place to bring your young kids, the noise they make will blend right in with the place. YH is a little pricey, but then again, what place these day isnt? It's not super expensive but you get my drift. If you're a fan of a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque soup, it's totally tasty and the best I've ever had anywhere!!

I had the orange chicken. Very basic. Nothing too special. I would not order again. My favorite thing about this place is the RoseGarden Beer. My wife had the tuna burger. Not so good. A friend had the Veggie burger. He only had two bites.

Yard House has always offered good service and very good food, at least to me. This location has less choice of beers (only 100!) than other locations. Also, the bartender's beer knowledge wasn't great, as he couldn't answer some of my questions. Overall, I still like Yard House and recommend it.

Very nice dining experience. Had the Seared Ahi Sashimi for starter and then a whole plate of Chicken Nachos to myself. Food was decent and atmosphere was lively. A little loud for a nice quiet date with my wife but we enjoyed ourselves and the service (Nick) was fantastic.

Their Chicken Enchilada Stack is pretty good, but for the love of god, do not order the California Roll. It was so awful that I sent it back for something else, which I had never before done. It was VILE! A circular cake layered with rice, seaweed, snow crab and other things. I expected a normal sushi roll! Not a bland CAKE that one has to eat with a knife and fork! They need to rethink that item on their menu. I appreciated that they gave me something else instead (which I paid for), and did not charge me for their sushi cake. TIP: They have unbelievable Chocolate Souffle with ice cream.

My coworker and I went on our day off to chill and hang around Fashion Island when we noticed YardHouse's happy hour. We ordered Fried Chicken Strips (it was served with fries, something dijon and ranch), Firecracker Wings, and Spicy Thai Chicken pizza. Overall, the food was amazing. We were really satisfied! We spent $17.50, which is a pretty good price. I love happy hour! The food took a while but it was pretty much worth it. The location is perfect, right in the corner and noticeable. The service was good. Our waitress was really nice and she comes by every so often to check up on us. So, I would recommend you guys coming here and go during their happy hour special. Food is amazing! Service rocks! (:

Love love yard house, everytime I go I have a wonderful experience. I went last night with my friend and she ordered something she ended up not wanting so she asked someone if they could cook it differently. The manager came up and kneeled down and told her they would take care of her. Such great service, food, atmosphere. AND they serve food after 10 pm.

The Yard House has an amazing beer selection and a good happy hour choices. Some people forget about the food, but the great thing about the place is everyone will find something they like. got the ahi tuna sliders...i felt like there could've been more ahi in it...i barely tasted the tuna and it wasn't filling at all. i would probably never get this item again. but usually when i come here it's just to drink anyways :]

Great food, drink, and crowd at Happy Hour! Prices, quality and variety are excellent. Spinach Cheese Dip, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Blue Crab Cakes really rock.

This place is awesome if you are a beer lover. With over 100 beers on tap you will find yourself in beer heaven. The happy hour is okay. You can find better places that offer better happy hour prices but you should expect that from a chain restaurant. The food is comparable to other major restaurants. I recommend the club sandwich or the nachos..The nachos are huge and you WONT finish them by yourself..I have failed twice. The environment is perfect for the young professional who wants to go out and grab a quick bite and beer after work. The people who come there usually seem to have something in common. The last time I went there I was attacked by a group of girls on a Bachellorette party...so no complaints here.

I'm sorry, but pretty much all Yard Houses get 5 stars in my book. We ate here on back-to-back nights, including hitting their great happy hour deals one time. You can't beat the nice atmosphere, big high def TV's, solid food, and amazing beer selection. This location is in the Fashion Show mall in Newport Beach, with a convenient parking garage right next door.

I recall my first taste of Yard House (LBC) back in 99-00 or so. Spectacular. That was when I was able to drink like fish, and still function normally the following day. Portions were ginormous, and tasty for a beer joint. Fast Forward 2008. My first time here at the NPB Locale.... Similar to all the other ones. Just a tad newer perhaps. Came at noon time, and the place was empty. Good for us, but always a catch 22, cuz you just dont know how fast the food is turning over? I mean, is that tuna from last friday? Did that meatloaf make it past the 3 day limit? The frozen salmon and chilean sea bass was one too many last friday nite...... shall we season the shit outta it and smother it with butter & lemon juice? Yeah.... funky shit goes through my head, when i see empty restaurants.... Anyhow on to the food: 1. Chicken Strips & Fries: Would you like some chicken to go with that buttermilk breading. Holy bejeebeez that was thick. The chicken was almost non existent. Fries were fine. I like them thin. 2. NY Steak Salad: Mixture of haricot vert (fancy string beans), roasted peppers, ripe avocados, frisse greens, red onions, blue cheese, NY Fillet cooked medium; a pickled egg; with a balsamic/italian vinnagrette dressing. B-. Greens were fine. More crumble and less chunks of bleu cheese woulda been nicer. The steak had good flavor, but it sat out too long and got luke warm....cuz the beef fat was starting to coagulate...mmm...yum-o. The pickeled egg was wrong. And this is comming from a person that can eat eggs everyday..... It was pickeled, in this briny vinegery solution, with pepper, and possibly soy which gave i that funky brown color.... Hell it could been one of those chinese eggs served with pigs paws..... Chicken Tortilla Stack- The SO had this dish. Good. Not great. Excellent chile verde sauce. The ancho smoked pepper chile sauce wasnt great. Avg. at best. A messy mound of chicken, cheese, sauce, and tortillas. Also a fancy fried green tomato for garnish. Overall the joint is clean. The service is top notch. And the hostess' are all friendly. I'd go again, and try something different.

I have been to other locations but this one is definitely one of my favorites! Our server was really polite and the service could not get any better. I am glad that they have expanded their wine section (added a few popular wines). I would really recommend this place for Happy Hour -- the drinks are great! Appetizers are good but it depends on what you order. My personal favorites are the: Spinach Artichoke Dip & Buffalo Wings Dinner -- even though the selections may be a little limited for those who are vegetarian you can substitute which works out! I like the seafood menu over the traditional favorites -- but different strokes for different folks!

I had no idea the Yard House had vegetarian options. Oh my the boneless "chicken wings" and the tofu chicken substitutes are out of this world. The atmosphere is really upbeat and the food is so yummy and veggie.

This Yard House location doesn't officially open until Sunday, 9/9 at 11a.m., but they had a preview event today to sample the menu (including the beer). Stella on tap is always delicious, but nothing from the food samplings was spectacular. I would even say some of the food was...strangely craptastic. I think the cook was on a cinnamon kick - it made appearances in the dressing in the "summer salad" and sauce drizzled over the pork tenderloin. Managed to thoroughly confuse my taste buds and make my tummy sad. On the positive side, we enjoyed the spinach dip as we chugged Hef and as far as entree samplings go, the swordfish topped with crab meat was probably the best of the bunch. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a Newportesque version of your standard Yard House. The restaurant even offers valet parking for those who find it uncouth to park their Bentleys themselves in the adjacent lot and parking structure. The bathrooms are also something of note, with these really neat sinks that could leave some scratching their heads on how to get the water flowing. Overall, I think it my experience demonstrated a decent first shot, but there is definite room for improvement. Eh, who am I kidding. A Yard House is a Yard House is a Yard House. BUT WAIT. This one is across from Bloomingdale's. That fact alone should earn it an extra 1/2 star.

Great Place...I wish they had these up North! Great selection of beer, and pretty much everything I've tried on the menu has been pretty good. The past few times I've been sucking down the Double Daddy IPA and then I just order the sliders which have hit the spot each time I've had them. I like the atmosphere of this place, especially when there's some good sports on!

Yard House has amazing happy hours. In fact I've only been here during happy hours. They have two a day, that just so happen to always fit my schedule - anyways. The food is delicious and has a wide variety - pizza-sliders-seared ahi? Yeah all for half off. My two new faves are the seared ahi , which I was at first suspicious of, I am a picky sushi eater, but gave it try and it was very good. Fresh fish, delicious sauce, and a great price. I've also found a beer I actually enjoy. Timmerman Strawberry. If you're not too sure about beer and like wine, you'll like it. Also, we had a large party and they totally forgot to put someones order in. Without us even making a fuss at all, except asking the waiter to resubmit it a manager came to our table, apologized and comped my friends order. It was great service and great food = great time.

Good place for beer and apps if you're at Fashion Island - but not a destination in my travel plans. The food is chain restaurant quality, but lots of beers on tap, so enjoy. The service is good, but I had to wait 5 minutes for them to take the charge off my card and let me pay cash.

  • Jen W.

I came with a large group, what ended up being 20 and they were very accomodating, able to fit us into side by side booths. The service was good, the food was good, the atmosphere is what you expect from a Yardhouse. Honestly, no complaints-well, nothing is amazing, which means no 5 stars, but it's everything you expect a Yardhouse type restaurant to be.

Selection of beer is fantastic. Also helps that they usually have the current game going. Good food. Only downside is it gets loud, but thats it. Minus 1 star until they open the one in San Jose, CA. I ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi, and it came with three different sauces and some grill bok choy. It was amazing. Honestly, I I know it sounds frou-frou but I recommend he Strawberry beer that they have on tap, it was just wonderful.

I generally like Yard House (see my favorable review of YH Triangle Square) and of all the chain places in the area, Yard House is pretty much my favorite. However, I had an irritating experience at this Yard House that ruffled my feathers a bit. I was meeting my parents for Happy Hour and I was running a tad late. I called my mom and asked her to order me a drink so it was waiting for me when I got there. She called me back to let me know that they wouldn't let her because she had ordered a drink for herself. They wouldn't let her order 2. Fine, whatever. The server told my mom she would run over as soon as she saw me arrive. So I get there and the server comes over pretty quickly. She asks for my ID and the 22-year-old server analyzes it up and down, backwards and forwards for a good minute or two. Now, I'm pushing 30, so getting carded makes me feel pretty good these days, but this college girl made me feel like a borderline criminal the way she was examining it. I thought she was going to start asking me what street I lived on or what my sign was. When she delivers my drink I let her know that I'll be sucking this one down pretty quickly (What? At least I'm honest!) so she might as well bring me another one asap. She tells me she isn't allowed to put in another order for me until my current drink is at least half gone. WTF?!? Are they going to come by with a ruler and freaking measure the thing?! My mom drinks more than I do and we both found this to be so friggin nuts we didn't really know what to do. I understand they have issues with underage drinkers and I'm assuming they have some issues with people taking advantage of happy hour, but rules like this make me feel like I am doing something wrong just by doing my normal drinking. And being carded so hard by a college co-ed when I am with my 50-year-old parents for goodness sake, and I am pushing 30 and LOOK IT is just a little ridiculous. My parents and I were considering staying there for dinner and more drinks, but after this experience we just left when HH was over and went over to Muldoon's where they didn't take a measuring stick to our drinks.

Initially, the plan was to go meet my friends at Anthropologie and go to Urban. However, because I had just gotten off from work, my hunger needed to be addressed. Conveniently located between Anthro and Urban is Yard House. Lucky for us we were still in time for Happy Hour. Yard House has Happy Hour Monday through Fridays from 3PM to 6PM. During which, they offer select half-priced appetizers. I've been to the Yard House in Downtown San Diego and at Irvine Spectrum. Not until last night did I remember ever eating at a Yard House, as I often come for drinks with friends. Nevertheless, as I write this review, I come to realize that I did have a birthday here 4 years ago. Unfortunately, I can't remember what I had, other than drinks!? Anyway, moving forward to an actual review of the food we (myself and two others) consumed last night: Spinach Cheese Dip - baked with feta, jack cheese, Parmesan and cream cheese served with crispy flat bread. I personally liked that it was served with crispy flat bread as oppose to tortilla chips. Fried Calamari - served with spicy tomato and tartar sauces. Spicy Tuna Roll - seared ahi, avocado, edamame, cucumber with wasabi soy sauce. This was spicy, but very delicious. Four Cheese PIzza - fresh tomato sauce, fontina, ricotta, mozzarella and Parmesan. Happy Hour is truly a fitting name, because I was definitely Happy :) You can't go wrong with inexpensive good food!

Went here yesterday with my husband as we wanted to get out of the house and drive down the coast to Newport. I don't know much about Newport except Fashion Island so we ended up there. We walked around and thought about going to Red Robin, but when I saw that they had a Yardhouse I thought what the heck! Let's try it out, and I am glad we did. It was a little more than what we usually pay for lunch (1 beer, 1 soda, and two lunch specials, plus tip was $35), but I will say our meal was worth it. My husband had the blue crab cake sandwich, and the French onion soup. I had the grilled cheese (pretty much every meltable cheese was included, plus tomatoes!), and a cup of the tomato bisque soup. We both throughly enjoyed our meals, and the blonde ale was quite tasty. The service was great and never at one point did I feel like either of us were rushed. The hubby did think the service was a tad slow, but it didn't bother me at all. I am really tempted to give this place 5 stars, but again the prices for lunch, and the beer ($6) were a little high. The atmosphere is great and the music was just at the right level. We'll definitely go back again.

Staff is great, attentive, knowledgable and friendly. Management was present and engaging. I think his name was Chase. There was another gentleman with a mustache, also great. All things were great except the artichoke. Overcooked and tasteless. We will be back again because of the bartender and Chase. Have been here several times and always a great experience. We dined at the bar on March 9th approx 830pm.

my favorite restaurant in Newport. LOVE the beer selection and I always end up spending more then I plan too, but always leave happy. never had a bad experience. You can not go wrong ordering the sliders there only 10.25 or something and come with fries, leaves you plenty of money to spend on beer. TVs everywhere, and awesome music. also a huge plus that all the waitresses hot. sum it up, beer, music, tvs is guranteed a good time

For me, the Yard House is all about the beer. Their list of tap beers, which is what I am interested in, is huge. Their appetizers are good, as long as you stick to the basics. Their entrees are average and, again, I would not venture too far from recognizable pub food. For instance, they do very good sliders and fries. On the other hand, the pear salad often has tough, crunchy pears. Service is almost always good, and the waiters are appropriately pleasant and cheery. I give the Yard House 5 stars for the beer, 4 stars for the service and some of the appetizers, and 3 stars for the rest of the food.

My family and I just recently took a trip down to disneyland. My dad decided since we were only about 15-20 minutes away, we should eat at Yard House for lunch. So off we went. This was my first time here but my dad has eaten at the Long Beach location many times. He was quite disappointed they discontinued the full yard and is now only serving a half-yard. And they don't even sell the glasses. Boo to that. Anyways, on to the food. I had their mac and cheese. while it sounds simple, it's not. It's got applewood smoked bacon (yum!) and wild mushrooms mixed in. so freakin delish! My sister tried a glass of their strawberry beer and I managed to get a sip. soo good. It now continues to haunt me until I can get some again. Yard House is opening at Santana Row and I cannot wait!

Our favorite place to just come kick back and watch the laker game while eating. Jambalaya is good. Portions have gotten smaller for some reason. I always get the burgers they are really good. Gorgonzola black pepper burger is my favorite. The staff is very nice and always attentive. At least for us. Outside seating is nicer sometimes as inside it gets too dark. I come in on a sunny day and I need a minute or two for my pupils to adjust as Im blind in there, cant see anything except for the tv screens. Love this place, perfect area, enough family-orientation (non rowdy crowd) and enough sporting venue and great food (and beer if you drink).

Zero stars for the service, 2 stars for the food. I came here with my husband and some friends to celebrate a friend's graduation. The waitress (very short hair, I think her name was Jennifer) finally approached us asking us for drink orders after about 20 minutes of sitting. 15 minutes later she asked some of us if we wanted to order appetizers. She stood at the very end of the table and asked the two people at the end, but no one else. My husband and I had to call her back to place our order. 75% of our party guests had arrived, and she came to ask two people at our table if they wanted to place orders, which they did. She then left, apparently she's only able to take two orders at a time? So some of the guests at our table tried to flag her down. About ten minutes later she finally came and took two more orders. Note that at this time, seven of us were ready to order. So we had to try to flag her down again so that she could take the rest of our orders. Finally she decided to come and took two more orders. We had to stop her from leaving so she could recognize the other three people's orders. Wow! she was able to take five orders at once?! Pigs fly now?! It doesn't stop there. One of the vegetarians at our table had ordered the gardein Buffalo chicken wings. When the wings arrived, they were not vegetarian! We had to send them back. A gentleman from the back came out and apologized (at least someone had the decency). The worst part of our meal was this: one of our friends (probably aged 30-35 yrs) took ONE sip of beer out of his fiance's glass. Our waitress came over, leaned onto the table, and looked our friend straight in the eye and said "I need to see your ID" in the rudest tone! He said "I left it in the car" and she said something along the lines of "well you can go get your license or I can take the beer away". He said "okay go ahead and take it away". Okay I understand that restaurants need to cover their asses by carding anyone who looks under 80 yrs old. But really?! Do you really need to be SO rude and condescending? There was NO respect! Bathrooms: clean enough, on the small side, had interesting sinks Would I go back? Unless I hear the service has improved drastically, but probably not if I have a chance Lessons learned: If you are having a large party come dine here, request an experienced, cordial server, otherwise you will be disappointed!

Ususally love the Yardhouse, but this one has much improvements needed. We got there around 8pm for dinner. Though we were seated right away the wait service was terrible. Kitchen was very slow. The waiter finally brought our food but never came back to check to see if it was right and my shrimp was undercooked. Since there are many options at Fashion Island. Choose another one. Yardhouse did not live up to their reputation at this location.

One of my favorite chains: like the atmosphere and the great variety of food--especially the appetizers. 4.5 stars. Cost to worth it ratio: 3 Eve award: favorite happy hour Highlights: - Happy hour: a huge amount of appetizers for half off. Most are enough for a meal. It's best if you pick a few and share with your friends. They also have drink specials, best of which being that the usual $10 martinis are $5.50. It also applies to the entire restaurant--not just the bar area. - Ahi tuna stack: huge portion with 3 layers of wonton crisps, ahi, and avocado building the power. Fresh fish, good flavors marinading them, and nice texture combo with the crispy chips and the creamy avocado. Have this with a split of bubbly during the happy hour. ;-) Pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/tiUe… - Mini burgers: standard but great - Onion ring tower--insanely large and typically greasy, but good rings - Burger w lobster: insanely unexpectedly good for chain locale. Tasty burger plus a decent amount of lobster on a great soft bun. Pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/tiUe… - Sweet potato fries: thin anad either drizzled with syrup or served on the side to dip into. :-) - Miso glazed fish: moist, soft so you can pull off a piece at a time, and delicious glaze worthy of a nicer restaurant. Midlights: - Pizza: not spectacular but not bad. Worked for the hub. Lowlights: - Cider options: a few, but not many draft options for non-beer drinkers When visiting family in the area, I frequented this establishment a good amount of times--sometimes twice in one day even. :-O It was a nice place to hang in those tenuous times over the last few months while I was worried, stressed, or just wanted to time some time to hang out with a friend and have some good food or a drink.

I'm a huge fan of Yardhouse, forget the rest. Best deal to come here during Happy Hour. I always get the sliders, buffalo wings, tuna roll, nachos, pizzas and beer. Service is great and perfect for any large party. OH and the beer that tastes like fruity pebbles (forgot the name) is amazing. Ask your bartender about it and I'm sure they'll know what you're talking about.

Good food, large beer selection (nothing super exotic). Easy to get to, didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes on a Saturday. Wish they could wire the TVs a bit differently so we could watch different games.

I really enjoy the Yard house. They have something on the menu for everyone! Their pot pie is enormous and delicious, their sliders are phenomenal, and I really love their Caesar salad. I've also tried their hamburgers, which are great, and a couple of their pasta dishes which wowed me a little less. All in all, it's much better bar food that at some bars in the area. The Yard house has an extensive list of beverages which is very nice when you want a change from your traditional list of cocktails and beers. They even have samplers if you want to try a few different things before you settle on a full glass. I will say that the atmosphere can get pretty loud, and it's not somewhere I would come for a quiet, romantic dinner. It's more of a place to watch the game while you're having lunch/dinner, or a place to get a big group together where nobody minds if you get a little rowdy.

A-OK service A-OK atmosphere; it's a bit loud inside because of the obnoxious customers + numerous TVs streaming sports games so coming here on a first date might not be the best idea since you're date might assume you're deaf..... A-OK food. I ordered their BBQ chicken pizza and it was alright. I can make one at home from the trader joe's pre-made box. A-OK dessert. i had their Kona Coffee Ice Cream and it was aight. I can import that shit from Hawaii....No BIG DEAL A-OKOKOKOKKKK I was just checking the ambience of the restaurant and one of choices was "dive-y" wthe eff does that mean...?

haven't had a bad experience here and i've eaten here several times the onion rings are great they have a new gardein menu with tons of veggie options i had the thai pizza and it was really really delicious. the sauce was zesty, the crust was great and there were actually macadamia nuts on top. it worked... can't wait to try the other things they have to offer

Yard House gets 4 stars in my book because of the extensive selection of alcohol. I've haven't found many places in suburbia that serve Kriek, a Belgian fruit flavored champagne beer, and this place does. Our table ordered all types of food off the menu - sliders, French onion soup, truffle fries, salad, Korean BBQ dish. Everyone liked what they ordered. My only complaint are the prices. While the atmosphere is fun and upbeat, the food just doesn't justify the high prices. Stick with the alcohol!

I guess the second time is the charm! My bf and I went here yesterday just before Happy Hour ended. Fortunately, it wasn't packed at all. We were promptly seated. Our server, Summer, was very pleasant. I had to look around again to make sure I was really in Newport. The happy didn't end there. I got me the original sliders for $6.75. This time when my order came out, I was positive it was the right order. :D And it was pretty tasty! I scarfed down 3 of those little bad boys and ALL of the fries (I heart Yard House fries). I only took 2-3 bites out of the pickle, though. Lastly, after downing my pint of the House Honey Blonde, I had to redeem myself by going to the restroom (it'll make sense if you read my prior review). I went to that stall and found the door doesn't lock! Hooray! And when I opened the door, it was empty! Double hooray! Thank you Yard House for a great night. I definitely needed it!

Came at noon on this breezy Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to find no wait. The food is typical Yard House fare, solid food and an extensive beer list. There are also tv's in every direction showing a multitude of sporting events, so it's a perfect spot for catching a game - especially for those who came with a group of non-sporting shoppers! The service was extremely quick and friendly.

Garlic Noodles and/or Spicy Tuna Roll I went to this particular Yard House for a work dinner which accommodated all 12 of us with an early reservation. We all didn't arrive at the same time but still seat us as we all got there which is very rare for a restaurant to do. While waiting they have nothing else but a nifty bar for us to wet our whistles. Their beer selection is one of the largest around and the servers are very helpful to find a drink that you'd like. Their sampler beer platter is also a great way to have a taste of the beers they have to offer. Their happy hour is one of the best around with a large selection and full meals on the menu as well. Great place for groups, dates, and BEER!

Bad service, slow service... even when there is no one here. Bus boy is extremely rude. Food is not up to par with other Yardhouse locations. Selection of beer is lackluster. Definitely would go the extra mile to head over to Irvine Spectrum's Yardhouse for better & faster service, better food, and better selection of draft beer.

For happy hour the Yard House is 5 stars. 1/2 price for a lot of different appetizers. Also, the amount of food given at happy hour is very filling. Also 1/2 price for a lot of drink options. At all other times the food is average and overpriced. I recommend the Ahi Sliders, chicken lettuce wraps, and onion rings Yard House actually has the most perfect onion rings I've had. They're crispy without being flaky and the onion never falls out of the fried shell. Service is usually good, but of course every now and then you get the waiter or bartender with attitude.

*Bar Review Only* Had a quick beer and cocktail here before a movie. The staff looked young and probably pretty lame and more obsessed with themselves. BUT, they were super nice and professional! Bummed that their appetizer list was long, but with NO healthy options. Big miss for the Yard Heezy. Don't half step. Great for a beer or quick snack while shopping at Fashion Island.

Oh boy, us girls sure know how to have fun. We shop, we drink beer and we EAT! It's happy hour!!! We start off with our drinks. We then take a few minutes to collaborate and see what we can order to eat. Our minds tend to think one way but our eyes say otherwise. We want this, this, this and this! Outcome, (1) Hawaiin Poke Stack which are fresh marinated uncooked ahi stacked with crispy wontons, carrots, bean sprouts, avocado and wasabi sauce, (1) onion rings, (1) sweet potato fries, (1) chinese garlic noodles tossed with butter, garlic, chives, parmesan cheese and shitake mushrooms and lastly (1) order of the calamari. Formula, Friends + Beer + Food = Fun times!

This place sucks.... They want your credit card before you order. Can I have 30 seconds to sip a beer and relax? NO. "Welcome, how may I help you, are you paying now? or running a tab? cause if you're running a tab, i need your credit card NOW"! I was like .... "ummm, I haven't even thought about it yet; can I please have a minute to sip my beer, look at the menu & chill out?" She was stunned............ Then the beer was flat, the replacement beer was flat too. I took 2 sips. The food was bad (Margarita pizza), incredibly bad; so bad in fact, a Safeway frozen pizza would have been better. Gee I guess the restaurant business is soooo good these days (2010), you can treat potential customers like crap, serve flat beer & bad food............... good luck with that ..........

Girls weekend in Newport beach... went shopping and decided to take a break with some lunch and drinks at the Yard House. Out waitress was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the beer and food menu. We each had a half yard of brew, and some grub. Two of us had salads with the peanut dressing which was super tasty and had a kick of heat. So yum. Great weather, in a fantastic mall, I would definitely come back.

No doubt, def one of my fav places! The service is good, the music is great and you can't find a bad thing on the menu. They got every beer you could ever imagine. Tony, the bartender, he's the best!! This is my go-to spot!!

Saturday afternoon lunch with mom (she was in town). I guess most of my reviews are for lunch... This is the 4th YH I've been to (Triangle Sq, Shoreline Village, Pasadena). We've done dinner at YH in LB & Costa Mesa, but I remember the wait and the crowd just being CRAZY & loud! I think lunch is the way to go at the YH, especially if you don't have anything else to do! Very prompt seating, the place is small for a YH. We got a nice booth with prompt service. I ordered a red hook blonde (I think, something blonde), and mom got her Chardonnay. We chatted & watched all the cute little Newport families having lunch! Lots of kids/families at this location. It was pretty full for lunch Mom got the lettuce wraps with Tiger shrimp ($12.95), LOVED the THREE sauces it came with!! We love "bowlies"! I think it was an appetizer... She had leftovers that I got to take home! They serve it with butter lettuce leaves instead of iceberg. They were tasty & not oily. I got the ahi steak sandwich ($13) with fries and it was totally good. It was on rye bread instead of a huge roll or bun. And had yummy grilled onions. Now we're off to Bloomies for makeovers! Now back to the Yard House for another round after makeovers at Bloomies! We sat at the bar and cuite pie helped us promptly. It was a good day! Thanks mommy! She was going to bring her man back for dinner since they were staying close by. They have call ahead seating.

PBR shooters: groovy! Got to hang out after work with some close friends. Nice to eat with those who I usually only see during business.

Would like to give it a 2 star review but the appetizer and 2 entrees were great, just one important person at our table got shafted :( 3 of us shared the spinach cheese dip appetizer and we just did not want that plate to end, very yummy. Girlfriend got the Ahi sandwich and caeser salad. The Ahi was really stringy and fishy, salad was ok. She sent back the sandwich for a cup of the day soup. 30 mins later, soup never came. When a server finally came by, she did apologize immensely and offered to personally get it right away and free dessert, but we were just ready to get out of there by that time. I had the bbq chicken salad, now this is a mans salad! Massive, tons of chicken and all the fixin's. Actually let the gf stab at mine since her dinner was a wash and we both were full from it. Brother had avocado chicken sandwich and had zero complaints from him. Will likely go back, mainly for their great beer selection.

I used to go to yard house a lot... and I have to give it to them, their beer selection is awesome, but other than that I think the place kinda blows. The service has never been that great, the waitresses are kinda stuck up and often hint that you should leave a big tip... annoying. The appetizers are good, but a lot of the entrees are pretty mediocre. Whenever I go here with friends we just order appetizers and share them, we don't even bother with the entree

Pros: Monday Happy House was from 10pm - 12am!! Pomegranate Martini was pretty good Cons: It's hidden away within Fashion Island...

This is actually my new favorite Yard House location. This is based largely on the facts that it is located 10 miles from my house, and it's at Fashion Island. What better way to end an afternoon of shopping than with a drink and some 1/2 price apps? The mention of the Yard House also help me coax the BF over to the mall. It hasn't been overly crowded yet, when I've been there. And the bartenders are nice, I even recognize a few from the Spectrum location. While I would never recommend the sit down food, the bar food is what it is, greasy, bad for you, great with beer, yummy bar food. I also enjoy their wide variety of beers, and have discovered two faves here, the SLO Blueberry, and the Sea Dog Blue Paw.

Happy Hour is the BEST! Its from 3-6pm and again after 10pm and appitizers are half off. Food is great and this place is awesome for any beer lover. I've tried most of the appetizers and all are great. My favorite is the garlic noodles, seared ahi, coconut shrimp, spicy tuna roll (not your typical roll you would get at a sushi rest).

I have a week long conference in the area every year. I usually eat here AT LEAST 3 times. Good service, good selection, fast!

First time at a Yard House. Nice comfortable place. Much more open that many of the places in this mall. Got a huge booth. Outstanding beer selection. Recommend the Nachos and 4 cheese pizza.

Excellent food. This location is open slightly later than other OC locations, a big plus. The lamb chops are superb, and the brownie is addicting. They also have the best sweet potato fries around. They put BJ's to shame. If Yard House was a public company I'd buy their stock.

Kind of disappointing, Ahi wasn't really good quality and service was somewhat lacking. Beer selection was good though.

The nachos are spectacular --and huge! If you like your chips loaded up with beans, cheese, and all the other nacho goodies you will love this place. My hubby and I always order nachos with a couple beers and think we'll be hungry enough for something else, but we aren't. Still, it's worth it to have a few bites of those tasty lettuce wraps. Of course, the place is famous for the variety of beers. It's hard for me to say no to Newcastle but there are so many others calling. Good place to watch a game, meet up with friends, or sit with your sweetie at the bar.

Of all the yardhouse branches, this one is my favorite. I love their california roll, lettuce wrap, and miso glazed sea bass. My husband is in love with their pepperoni and mushroom pizzas and blue hawaiian beer. Love the big screen tvs and the cool ambiance! Happy hour from 3-6pm and 10pm-12am is FANTASTIC!

I didn't know this but each Yard House have a different selection of beers. The bigger ones (ie Irvine Specturm, Long Beach ) have way more choices than this one at Fashion Island. I went there to my coworkers today and found that they only have halve pages worth of beer. I was really bummed when the ones I usually get wasn't even on here. In addition, I thought the food is not nearly as nicely put together as the other ones. The service is okay, but overall this place only deserves 3 stars. I say, they ought to do something, or change the name, because it was the usual high quality place I expected from the "Yard House" name

By all means come here. Expensive for a burger and beer place but the twists with the food are nice and the draft beer selection is top notch. They are really gluten free friendly here so it's a great bonus anyone with gluten intolerance. Good service, nice people here and above average pub food.

Nothing fancy here, just your typical Yard House. Good place for lunch but can get busy. This location is smaller then Triangle Square in Costa Mesa and smaller then a few in the Los Angeles area. Can't beat half price appetizers during Happy Hour!!

Wow what a great meal! Great happy hour deals and the service was impeccable. Ask for Sabrina to serve you. Her suggestions were spot on and she's easy on the eyes too. My buddies and I absolutley loved her. Too bad she's engaged. We watched the game and had great beer. Good times. I recommend this place to everyone.

the food is good, nothing special just like a cheescake factory, bjs vibe, i have never had an experience i wouldnt forget there.... i guess if you are a beer person this place is a total 5 star but im not and i think everything is overpriced which heck with the crowd they have if people are dumb enough to pay it then whatever, and then i kind of understand the high prices in order to pay for the amount of beer on top they need to keep up and to cover for the beer that never gets used that they have to end up replacing... its a ok.

My rating is for 'happy hour'. Love the beer selection and love that happy hour starts at 3pm (ends at 6pm). Outdoor seating, modern/chic interior and had wonderful, attentive service. Good appetizers: onion rings, sliders, lettuce wraps. Don't get the 'tuna roll', which actually doesn't have rice and is a big stack of tuna, edamame, etc., with a funky cajun aftertaste.

meh. above average chain food. and by OK I don't mean overpriced/bad.. I mean servicable bar food.. if you were at a divey bar and got the same food you might be pleasantly surprised. It's a huge selection and that's why you go to this place.. something for everyone. But you are not in a bar that has charachter. You are at one of the fastest growing chains in america. I would never go out of my way for this place and would avoid it if possible -- but if I ended up here I would get off my high horse and enjoy the company of whoever i was with and have a few beers, the firehouse boneless chicken wings, a plate of nachos what have you. When I think about it, this place reminds me of the Cheesecake Factory -- but a bar version. ---- yes! this is what it reminds me of. And this is why you find aveage review of 3.5 stars! people like me say ti doesn't accel in anything, its a chain, but whatever.. 3 stars. and other people say its teh best thing ever to happen to italian food and give it 5 stars.
